Navigate to the Windows control panel and double click Printers and Faxes.

Right click on your printer and select properties.

Now find the colour options, set it to either normal or draft. That will ensure your printer uses less ink. Inkjet printers though are prone to really gulping down ink. A laser printer is a bit more economical, however not all laser printers are able to print in colour.

Try refilling your existing cartridges when they dry, it is cheaper but some-times it can give problems. The Micro processor within the cartridge needs to be told that the ink has been replaced.

Take Care!

You got it right - the Kodak EasyShare 5300 All-in-One uses 10 series Kodak cartridges, and
since your box says 10B+10C, it has (2) 10-series cartridges in it - one 10-series Black (10B), and
one 10-series Color cartridge (the 10C).

The 10 Series Ink cartridges are compatible with:
EasyShare 5000 series (your All-in-One belongs here)
ESP 3/5/7/9
ESP 3200/5200/7200/9200 Series
ESP Office 4100/6100

I recently replaced the black ink cartridge and do not wish to use the colour cartridge. However, the printer still keeps flashing the critically low level of my colour cartridge and does not print. How can...

Many printers always use a small amount of each color even if you are only printing black, to prevent the color nozzles from drying out and getting clogged (and, it forces you to buy more ink, which is a profit center for printer manufacturers)

For this reason, some printers will not work if ANY of the cartridges are empty.

It should work again if you replace the color cartridge. Make sure to select "black ink only" or the option to print in black and white or grayscale to minimize color ink usage. It may still use a little, but that's OK.

If the cartridges were out of the printer in the open air, they might have gone dry. Try to reseat cartridges 2-3 times,if isssue persists, get a new colour ink as Kodka will certainly not replace the ink for you.
