Hey there! I have a compaq evo n115, and for some reason the charger won't charge, even when the cord is in, the computer won't turn on. There are no lights, no sign of life at all, except for the charger which does have a light. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Do I need a new motherboard or something? Thanks, Jordan M. Hi Jordan,

I understand that you are not able to turn on the notebook even though AC adapter is connected to the notebook. Even notebooks LEDs are not glowing. Let me assist you in this regard.

Jordan, if the notebook is not accepting the power from the Ac adapter, then the issue could be with the AC adapter or with the AC power jack on the motherboard.

To confirm this, once check with another AC adapter at any local HP authourized service centers like Bestbuy or Radio shack etc. If the issue is same with another AC adapter, then the issue could be with the AC power jack on the motherboard.

For those kind of issues HP recommends to replace the motherboard, if your notebook is out of warranty, then you can contact local HP authorised service center to fix this issue by replacing the Power jack on the motherboard.

You can see purchase the powerjack of your notebook model from the below URL:

Can not find operating system in evo n115

First - re-seat the harddisk and reboot the computer. If the computer does not boot up then reboot andgo into the BIOS configuration to see if the BIOS detects the hard drive. If itdoesn't detect the hard drive then it could be faulty..Then the hard drive needsto be replaced in the computer/laptop, Windows installed and the computer orlaptop's device drivers plus your programs etc. to get a functioningcomputer/laptop again.

Hi I,m looking for download new bios for a notebook compaq evo n115, as the ones are in are very old and my computer dosent work properly. do you know where can I download them? Thank you

Hi,
Take a look at the following URL:

http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareIndex.jsp?lang=en&cc=uk&prodNameId=97138&prodTypeId=321957&prodSeriesId=96309&swLang=8&taskId=135&swEnvOID=1098#1670

Scroll down and look for ROMpaq (System ROM update). It is worth noting that HP / Compaq do not show a newer version than 2002, so it may be that your BIOS version is the current one.

As always, exercise caution when flashing the BIOS on any computer, as a flash failure can cripple a system completely.

Boot up problem

It is possibly the RAM it may have ceased. Look at it underneath held in by two screws. Take it out and examine it then put it back. The motherboard seems ok because you said the lights are lighting up. Sometimes the ram can stop even the bios and nothing can boot up.
