Fridge compartment keeps freezing

Brett Duxbury gives a great answer!

Hi Shane kelly, I would look at whether freezer is defrosting or is ice building up behind the fridge panel at the back and then freezing your fridge compartment.
It takes like 2 days for the ice to melt if this is the case.
Then freezer will work for a while and then when defrost is missed it builds up the ice again.
If this is what is causing problem it could be a transducer fault in the freezer that detect ice or a timer fault in the defrost circuitry.

Also check the evaporator circulating fan inside the freezer. The defrost timer and ice build up is also my other suggestion. The evaporator becomes a solid block of ice and doesn't pass air.

The unit beeps and temperature flucuates

this could be an issue with the defrost cycle. if ice build up accumulates the on the inside coil (evaporator), it restricts the air flow and you get alarms for being out of temp. usual signs are ice build up around the coil area. look for that first. be sure the door closes and seals too.

My samsung side by side power cool alarm wont stop sounding. I have changed filter but temperature will not stop decreasing

Alarm tells you about a problem. Does it give you a fault code?
Is it cold in the freezer? Please check if there is build up of ice in the freezer rear wall. Check the evaporator fan motor.

ne of the most common reasons for the freezer to start failing is called "frost free failure." Ice can build up on the evaporator coils over time, and this ice builds up until it starts blocking the fan. The fan is responsible for circulating cold air throughout the freezer, so if it is blocked the freezer will not be able to freeze any food. You can usually check this by removing an access panel in the back of the freezer to inspect the coils. If ice is built up on the coils, a hairdryer can assist in defrosting them

Freezer is barely working and refridgerator is'nt working

Sounds like a possible defrost problem or bad evaporator fan motor. First thing to check is to see if there is any ice build up on the back wall of the freezer. Both problems will cause this, but if the evaporator fan motor is not running, you'll notice it plus it will be only a slight frost where as if its a defrost system problem, there usually is a severe build up of ice. Please post the brand and model number so I could help a little better.

Alarm won't stop beeping

Door left open or temp is too warm. most I found is heavy ice build up on freezer evaporator, very easy to tell, pull out one of the drawer and look on the back wall, it should not have any ice on it (a little frost is OK). It may be bad Evaporator sensor, Evaporator fan motor is not running, door evaporator fan reed switch installed upside down, bad connection on defrost heater connector, bad defrost heater element, open heater HI limit switch, open gap on door gasket and compressor never stop running. If no ice build up and compressor is running but temp is rising then it may be sealed system problem. Good Luck.

I have an amana side by side refrigerator. The ice is building up

There is a drain hole under all of that ice that got clogged at some point and it started building up ice in that area.  The water that is freezing is coming from the defrost cycle which melts all of the ice buildup on the evaporator coil.  First melt the ice.  Then unclog the drain hole.  The drain goes to a tray in back near the compressor, where the heat from the compressor evaporates the water.

Fridge does not cool

lo1972

Sounds like ice built up on the evaporator coils inside the freezer. thus hindering air flow to the refridgerator section. Is there ice build up in the freezer? This is assuming the temperature control didn't get changed inadverttily.

Hope this helps
