When turning on the tv there is a buzzing sound, the picture takes time to appear and the picture is not clear, breaks up. I have to turn the tv off at least 3 times for it to work.
I wish I had a solution--My DVD picture and sound is fine, but it takes about 30-40 minutes to get any kind of picture but it is broken--not clear at all - and the sound is all garbled, totally stops for seconds to minutes a a time. It is only a little over a yr old. I finally isconnectexd today and am going back to my cheap-o but dependable tv.

Check the solder joints on the vertical IC. If you reflow the joints and the problem persists replace the IC. Buzzing sound may be the flyback or something dealing with high voltage. Take the back of the TV off and see where the sound is coming from and see if you can see anything when you turn the TV on. Stay away from the TV and don't touch anything when turning it on.
Check connections in rear of television if connections are good check condition of RCA jacks and other connectors.Lots of times poor sound and vision quality is due to cheap or damaged connectors and/or wireing.
That buzzing sound is this kind of Tv LCD Projection, is most likely a issue with the ballast (only if sound cames near the lamp) you can check that just follow the cables that are connected to the lamp, take out the back cover of tv, and keep pushing the switch cover (if not tv will not turn ON). and check if that sound comes from the only board connected to lamp. if it does, you are going to need a ballast very soon.

Turn tv on 2. Input mode should be tv 3. Turn volume to zero 4. With remote enter 9 8 7 6 5. A menu will appear on left side 6. Arrow down to backlight and with right arrow key move number from 81 to 83, press menu button twice, 7. Turn up volume and listen if hum is gone." It works,no hum."
Could it be vertical IC loose connection. It is sometimes connected with correct tuning. Check it for crack or wiggling connection best is to resolder.
if you have a converter box hooked up to the tv as well turn the volume down on both devices and bring the volume on the tv up to mid range, then increase the volume on the converter.....one is overriding the other
