Question about Computers & Internet
I had juzt bought my webcam and now i was instructed to install first the driver with the help of a cd which contains the tools and the driver itself, but my PC failed to read the cd. now i cAn't able to install the driver. are there any other choices except for installing it with the cd?
There really are no other options for installing the driver. Windows XP and Vista have alot of drivers built in, and you can have Windows automatically search for it, but more often than not, especially with new devices, they wont be in the OS, or the OS will pick a generic driver, and the device wont work properly.
There are two ways to install drivers. The first is to autorun the setup.exe file on the CD if the driver was meant to install via a self installation file. In that case, you will see the setup screens come up. The other way is to manually install them by clicking or right clicking on the device and then browsing to the files on the CD. In my experience, drivers dont always install in the method that the manufacturer states in the documetation, and in that case I have always tried the other method, many times with success.
Also, have you tried cleaning your laser head on the CD drive? Try another CD and see if it reads. Periodically you might have to clean it with a CD cleaner disk as electronics pick up dust and dirt.
