update the printer driver cd..go to device manager and check the properties of the printer ..other wise there is a problem in the printer port of your printer.

Do not press r at the first startup screen, allow it to continue all the way through. When it gets to the point where its going to reinstall it should say searching for previous windows installations and ask you if you wish to repair it. Click yes and it will do just that

Listen, you do not need that CD! This is already configured. That cd is for other types of troublesome operating systems that just cannot seem to get is DNS settings right such as windows XP. The cd is for XP only you do not need this with vista.

Next step is remove hard drive and see if it is recognized in another computer. The Hard Drive could just be bad, but you need to rule out the motherboard drive controllers that could also be bad. Also try a known good drive in your system.

1. Please open any web browser like Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator.
2. Connect to the router by typing http://routerlogin.com/basicsetting.htm or http://192.168.1.1 in the address field and click Enter or Return key.
3. A window will prompt for a user name and password. The default username is "admin" and the default password is "password".

Note: If it does not take password as the password, you might have changed it when you have run the NETGEAR Setup CD so please try other passwords. If you cannot remember the password, you need to reset the router and run the Setup CD to reconfigure it.

4. Click the Wireless Settings under Advanced tab.
5. Check the box under Enable Wireless Router Radio and Enable Wireless SSID Broadcast.
6. Click the Wireless Settings under Setup.
7. Change Channel (recommended are 1, 6 and 11).
8. Change the SSID to uniquely identify your network. You might have a similar SSID with your neighbor.

Note: Do not change the SSID if there are already other wireless computers that can connect to the network.

Other factors that you may consider when you are not able to view any available wireless network:

a. Switch for the wireless adapter is turned off
b. Distance between the wireless router and computer
c. Possible wireless interferences

find system commander!!! or ERD Commander.. the geek squad CD would work as well but make sure you boot from the CD and choose the password utilities.

Windows cant access required registry files

if you have a xp cd, put it in, start the setup, and enter repair console.

In repair console you should see a

prompt, type cd windows
cd repair
copy *.* c:\windows\system32\config\

type exit after files have been copyed, overwrite if asked.

type exit

restart pc and try to start windows if this fails

go back to xp setup and perform a repair installation.
