I am having trouble connecting my Kensington Si670m wireless mouse to my lenovo R61i laptop.

Hello, The new hp laptops with win 8 aren't compatiable with the old wireless mouse. Wireless mouse are cheap now. So, will have too buy one.

Have you tried to resync the mouse with the receiver. Usually,you need to press the button on the reciever first, then quickly hit the button on bottom of the mouse.

system restore back to as far as you can to restore the function once you had.

looking at the specs for your Thinkpad i believe you can connect your AT&T PC card since it has a Type II interface

that means that it does not comply with the laptop ( will not work with the laptop)

have you checked the battries in the mouse as the battries that com with the mouse don't last long and have you pressed the connect buttons on receiver and mouse as somtimes usb power receivers loose connection on laptops try this one. hope this works
