If you are a bit technical, copy the contents of the card to a folder on a PC. Plug in the Garmin. It should assign a drive letter to your unit. Open that drive letter and navigate to the folder GARMIN. copy the contents from the card to this location. There should be a file called gmapprom.img. You need that file as that's your map file.
Take note that it may take considerable time for it to copy it to the Garmin.

When updating your map you may have chosen a version that does not have your state.... like canada and eastern USA... etc... try reloading your map and select via mapsource the map that carries your state. Or install a 4 gb sd card with the full map if your nuvi has the card slot on the side... good luck
From the Garmin web site: Question: What should I do if my Garmin nuvi / zumo displays the message "No Detailed Maps That Support Autorouting."? Answer: Please follow these steps to troubleshoot the error message: Checking the unit:
Hold your finger down on the screen until the message "No Detailed Maps That Support Autorouting" disappears.
If you get a locked maps message following this error please remove any SD cards in the device and skip down to the instructions for "Getting your unlock codes".If you did not get a locked maps message then please select tools>settings>map>mapinfo button.
Check the box next to the mapping product City Navigator and you should no longer get the "No Detailed Maps That Support Autorouting" message.
With a Nuvi, If a Garmin or Garmin compatible power cord is not used, GPS will stay on the USB Mass Storage mode and will not go to Map Screen even though connector fits fine. In this case GPS can slowly charge. So, you need to find/obtain a power supply that works right.
Press Tools, press Settings, press Maps and press Map Info. The map name should be displayed with a tick beside it to show it's selected. If there's no tick press the map name and the tick shoule appear. This should solve the problem if the map is installed correctly.
I had the same issue..what a pain in the ****. I came up with a solution that worked for me. After the update i deleted gmapprom.img and then created my own map using the garmin MapInstall program. start>programs>garmin>mapinstall
I am very sorry to hear that you are having problems with the unit. You may need to switch the unit on and press and hold the centre of the screen until the message ?No detailed maps? message disappears.
If your map detail is missing, then the map information may have been disabled. To check to see if the mapping has been disabled, follow the steps below:
From the Where to? and View Map page, touch the Spanner icon, settings (Tools). Touch Map. Touch Map Info. The unit should display the name of the map that is loaded to the unit. The box in front of the map name should have a tick in it. If it does not, touch the box to place a tick in it.
There are two work arounds. If you can copy the data from the card via a card reader, save it to the desktop of a computer. Plug in your garmin to the USB. Transfer the card data to the Garmin folder which should have come up when you plugged in your garmin.
