Xbox 360 Elite won't read disc

Is it every single disc you have or only 1? If it is every single disc then your disc reader could be dirty or dusty. If it isn't every disc you need a new disc. Try DVDs as well. Make sure to try 5-10 other discs. If you play one disc way to much and the system does't get proper cooling you can actually burn the CD sometimes. It is very very rare but it is a possibility. If none of these things solve your problem then you need to look into a new console because it means you disc head reader is shot and needs to be replaced but that costs twice as much as a new 360 elite.

What is happening is i am trying to go online and it is a brand new game and the xbox is asking me to clean the disc every time. I have tried another game and it works fine can you help me my moden is on...

Take the DVD disk to Hastings. Tell them to clean it, it will cost you about 3.00. Bring it back. If it does not work, you have a defective disk, take it back and exchange it.

Hope this helps

Free repair help

XBOX 360 games have security codes embedded within. The motor is going out or likely filled with dust and debris that will not allow it to spin the game fast enough for the XBOX to recognize the security codes therefore telling you ''Please insert the disc into an Xbox 360 console''. Keep in mind, these DVD drives are nthing more than that. I am sure you can order a new motor online for a few dollars.

ALL YOU NEED IS THE MOTOR (found on ebay, etc.) and the DVD drive will tell you the brand name right on the top of it once you have opened the console.

Good luck

Will not read games or movies

When the disc is in the 360, can you hear it spinning? If so, then most likely the lens needs to be cleaned. If you can't hear it spinning, then the motor in the disc drive may be bad and need replaced.

CoD4 disc won't read.

how many times have you tried to play the disc?
the 360 is prone to many disc read errors, and most of the time if you just keep trying to play the disc it will work. xbox recognized the problem, and with the new dashboard update you can install games to your hard drive which minimizes the time the disk is spinning, which in turn minimizes disk read errors.

if it doesn't play, I would deffinetly try getting a new copy before sending in the console. getting a new copy is just a trip to the store, sending in the console will take a month.
