My friends HP G60t PC Notebook has a frozen cursor. The keyboard works, but not the touchpad. Thoughts?

Frozen touchpad

I followed the advice of pressing the FN and F7 keys at the same time. It didn't work when the program was fully loaded, but I rebooted and tried again during the rebooting and it worked. I had the frozen cursor on the Travel Mate (Acer) also.
