My whirlpool refrigerator (Model ET18DK) was moved downstairs a few months ago. The top freezer and the refrigerator only cool a little bit now. The freezer is about the temp that the refrigerator should be.

Check for:

  •  any ice or frost buildup in the freezer (defrost problem)
  • airflow restrictions, like dirty coils or if the refrigerator is on carpet.
  • it could also be a weak compressor.

Whirlpool Mod ET18LKXHWo o Fridge not freezing,

Your defrost timer located inside the control panel is bad OR the defrost thermostat located on a freezer coil is bad.
Get down low and look up at the bottom of the control panel.
You will see a small round hole. Onside the hole is the defrost timer advance knob.
Use a flat blade screwdriver and SLOWLY turh the slotted knod clockwise until the refrigerator clicks off.
Wait a few minutes then open the freezer door and listen for a sizzling sound from the freezer compartment.
If you do hear a sizzling sound that would be the defrost heater melting ice.
If you do not hear a sizzling sound, unplug the refrigerator and remove the rear freezer panel to expose the cooling coil.
Clipped to the coil will be the defrost thermostat. It will need replacing.
If you do hear the sizzling sound the defrost timer will need replacing.

My whirlpool refrigerator (Model ET18DK) does not cool

Most likely one of two conditions are the root of the problem. Either the fan in the freezer is stalled or the defrost system has failed. The fan in the freezer should run any time the comressor is running; if it's not, there's your problem. If you can hear the fan, check for frost or snow developing across the back panel in the freezer. Local repair service could probably supply replacement parts quickly for defrost failures (most likely a bad terminator if defrost system isn't working).

Whirlpool Top-Mount Refrigerator Freezer warm, cracking noise

8yr old? Buy a new one. The cracking sound is from expansion and contraction of the cabinet and ice cooling or defrosting. It can be as simple as a bit of a top up of refrigerant, but can also be that your compressor has worn down the valve plates and therefore is not producing sufficient pressure throught the system.

Refrigerator part not cooling, freezer is fine Amana TXI18JW (top freezer model) I noticed in the last week or so that my refrigerator was slowly starting to warm up, so I started to turn the dial up on...

There is a vent that is connected from the freezer down to the fridge right where the fan is,make sure nothing is blocking it.

Warm refrigerator/freezer

very good chance it is the same problem or possibly a leak of refrigerant due to joint failing where compressor is joined to pipework

Fridge and freezer not cold enough since we moved

remove the panel at the reaar of the freezer. you should have a full frost pattern on your evaporator (frosted not snow packed) and the fan should be running. if you do not have a full frost pattern then you have a sealed system leak. covered under the first five years of your warranty
