Question about Samsung DVD-VR357

DVD will not finalize

I have a few DVD's that will start the process of finailizing. It seems to go through the process but after a minute the titles of the dvd appear on the screen as though it has completed the process. When you try to play in another dvd player it says disc error. I have tried to finalize the same DVD's a few other times but the process doesn't finish. Is there another way to finalize the discs? After copying from VHS tape to 16x Dvd+R, I go to finalize the disk and it states something like automatically setting menu: Then it just freezes up after the first 6 menu titles and will not finalize. Help.

After I have titled all selections I press "finalize". It asks me are you sure & I say "yes". It then says it is automatically setting menu. The screen shows 6 pics & menu titles & freezes up. I have to unplug from the wall as I can't even open the drawer or turm it off.

I don't have a problem when I record the whole video, just when I divide it up.

Every time I tried to finalize a DVD that had more than 6 titles, the machine froze, the disk could not be ejected and it had to be unplugged to get it to work at all.

How to rip a dvd

Handbrake is free and powerful. However, as for a novice, I prefer to the easy to use DVD ripper like Leawo DVD Ripper. And you can follow below steps to rip a DVD.

Load the source DVD file

With Leawo DVD Ripper running on, click "Add Blu-ray/DVD" to add DVD files or just drag and drop DVD files onto the Leawo DVD Ripper software.

Choose Output Format

Click the drop-down list named MP4 Video by default on the left of the green "Convert" button, and choose output video format.
Note: The drop-down list is named MP4 Video by default, but if you have changed the output video formats into others, the drop-down list will display the according name. For example, if you have set MOV as output video format, you will see the drop-down list display MOV Video when you launch Leawo DVD Ripper again.

Adjust detailed settings

Clicking "Edit" to adjust video and audio parameters of output format, including: video codec, quality, bit rate, frame rate, aspect ratio, channel, audio codec, resolution, etc.
Note: This step is optional. If you don't know the exact parameters to set, you can directly leave those parameters at default or just skip the step.

Start video conversion

Click the big green "Convert" button on the top-right of the interface to start the conversion. Before conversion, video saving directory can be chosen.

My DVD Recorder Won't Start

Sometimes, the Sony documentation recommends unplugging the DVD Recorder for at least 30 minutes, instead of the regular 15 seconds. I know this timing makes a difference on DVR's.

Copy from VHS c to DVD

Older movies will do that w/out problem. newer dvds will not because of piracy protection. A way to copy vhs to dvd is hook up a dvd camcorder or digital camcorder from the output on the player to the input on the recorder and press record that should work.
f.y.i. this suggestion is nothing more than a solid maybe. Sorry it's the best i got

Multi region for CH DVD 300

There's a tricky process to follow with the remote control to set the region code. It is: -Open the player. -Remove any DVD. -Close the player. -Power off the player. -Wait for 30+ seconds -Power on the player. -Press Menu,1,9 on the remote [this frequently takes a few tries]. -When the region screen appears, press enter to change region (Every time you press enter, the region code on the screen will increment by 1). -When the proper region code is displayed, press Return. -Open the player. -Insert DVD. -Close the player. -(Maybe just my player) If the player doesn't start the DVD, repeat Open/Close until the DVD starts. If it still doesn't start, power off for 10 minutes. Good Luck!
