My Asus 1005ha beeps continuously when power on (battery is unplugged). When I connect power supply it beeps five times without gaps and then beeps endlessly until power is off. The sound comes from main board (left side board). On battery mode (without power supply) it beeps only once when turned on. Cooler never starts, there are no lights and no display. I have plugged and unplugged every device inside the machine: HD, main parallel cable, RAM, CMOS battery, cooler, and other components, but nothing happened. Please, I need help with this issue.

An intermittent problem is hard for a pro with the right tools to resolve so take that into account. I would suspect (in no particular order) the power switch, the laptop power socket and distribution, the A/C adaptor, battery and the other circuitry inside the laptop which usually means a new mainboard. There are a couple of things we can try that doesn't require taking anything apart: -Are you sure the A/C adaptor is really working despite the LED being on? The surest way is to try it on another similar laptop if you have access to one. Another is to see if the battery is fully charged, most batteries have a LED charge device incorporated into the battery you can use to determine that. -Remove the main battery and try running just with the A/C adaptor. Batteries these days are more than just a bunch of batteries wired together. They monitor and communicate with the system; in some cases they can prevent a startup. Going beyond this point means taking the laptop apart. This is generally not a simple thing and requires skill, patience, tools, lots of time and the ability to risk damaging the laptop beyond economic repair. If we open it up and don?t see anything obvious then the troubleshooting process will require obtaining new, working parts to switch out. Overall you will have to make a substantial investment which many or may not pay off the end. I typically recommend that users who do not have experience working on delicate electronics serious laptop issues to their local authorized repair shop. They have the experience, tools and parts which generally translates into getting a working laptop back at minimal expense. If the two previous suggests don?t work and you?ve decided you want to continue troubleshooting (and opening up) the laptop let us know and we can give you some general instructions how to open it up and where to get parts. Good luck and please don?t? forget to rate this posting.

SOURCE: Need help for Acer Aspire ONE MODEL # ZG5 screen does not work

If you are sure the computer is running then connect an external monitor to the laptop. You will have to select the external using your Function keys FN + F7 or F8. If you can now see your machine on the external monitor then you know it's the screen portion of your laptop that is faulty. If this does not work then the sounds you are hereing are probably just the fan and the hard drive spinning. These are not an indication that the computer is working. All in all, I would say that the laptop needs to see a pro.

SOURCE: LG x110 laptop power supply problem:

To be very sure of what the problem is, try to test the your laptop with a another friend's battery, or through a technician first. If it powers, then try and test the laptop again with another AC Adapter, from someone who uses the same type, or a technician.
Trying out these two things will give you a clearer and better idea of what might have gone wrong.
Hope it helps you out.
Goodluck!

SOURCE: Acer Aspire 9303wsmi display problem, 1 long beep, 2 short. HELP!

Hi,
What you hear are bios beeps. They signal you that something is wrong. These beep's vary by the manufacturer of the bios chip that you have.

You can find out what bios you have by looking at your manual. The common cause for one long and two short beeps is a video problem.

Either the video chip on your mobo is shot, or your video card needs attention.

SOURCE: power light comes on, but will not boot, also fan doesen't come o

Without looking at it sounds like a dead motherboard. You should be able to take it to a local shop and have then check it out for about $35-$50

Hook up to external monitor/tv. Power on. Can you see anything on the TV?

Remove the RAM chips. Try power up. Does it beep?

If NO then your motherboard is broken (specifically issue with CMOS)
If yes, could be graphics related.

Bring it to a PC shop for full diagnosis.

Asus Eee 1005HA hangs on boot

This works for my Asus Eee PC
1. Shut down and remove the battery.
2. Press the power button 10 times, next 1 minute pressing down.
3. Remove the memory and at the motherboard you'll see a clrrst (clear reset cmos..)
4. Short these 2 tiny pads by placing a tiny screw driver for 5 seconds, plug the power adapter and turn-on the switch, next wait at least for 3 seconds. Remove the power adapter.
5. Place back the battery and turn-on. You'll see the same screen (Logo of Asus) then patiently wait for at least 10 minutes or more. That's it.Good luck.

I have an ASUS Eee PC 1005HA netbook. I got a BIOS update yesterday for my machine. It was received and loaded to my machine. Once it was done it stated that I need to reboot, so I did. Once the machine...

A BIOS flash (even a failed one) shouldn't in an of itself cause the machine to not power up. It would cause it to power up and then not boot.
First of all, we need to find out if the device is getting ANY power or if you had a power supply failure that happened at the same time you did a BIOS flash. So, first things first. Does the power supply have any LEDs or lights that normally come on when you plug in the power supply? If so are they on?
Yes --> Are there ANY lights on the laptop itself when you attempt to power it up? Yes --> The laptop is getting power. If this is the case and the BIOS is blown, it would normally beep a couple of times at you.
No --> There could be a power circuitry problem inside the laptop. At this point it sounds like its time to contact Asus to ship it to one of their service centers.
No --> Try another plug in your house to see if the power supply failed or you just have an outlet problem. When you plug it into another outlet does the LED light? Yes --> You have a bad outlet in the house.
No --> Sounds like the power supply in the laptop is faulty. Contact Asus about getting a replacement power supply.
Hope this helps!!
Cheers!

My laptop is an Asus 1005HA-V and I'm having trouble turning it on. I've had it for about a year and when I try to turn it on it's lights flash and then turn off again. Also sometimes when it's on the...

Things that you can try:
1. disconnect the charger and the battery. 2. press and hold the power button for 15 secs. w/o the charger and the battery (the reason for that is to drain flea power). 3. connect the laptop straight from the charger w/o the battery and turn it on. It should turn on fine. If nothing happens, the motherboard is bad or the charger.

My asus eee pc 1005he is suddenly shut off and it never boot up again even i pull-off the battery and put directly the power supply on it. And also even the led indicator for wifi, battery, power and HDD...

Does it beep at you? Sounds like your PSU is pooped to be honest (unless you get beeps), I would take it to a repair shop and ask for a new power supply unit. Shouldn't set you back too much, don't get ripped off!

ASUS 1005HA netbook suddenly always restarts

Good day sir/maam, the sudden restart of you notebook, may be cause by a sudden fluctuation of AC mains, it could also be cause by other sources such as nearby machineries. which boils down to the notebook's power supply module. Is it capable of supplying good descent power to your notebook. Try moving to other places, such as well at work or any place where you think there is stable power. Hope this helps. thanks
