When you start the oven to reheat anything the megatron kicks in and the count down display flashes and flutters. The oven then stops and the display is ready for the clock to be set again.

What do ya think?

In response to your clarification request. We have had the oven for about 18 months, bought brand new and no work has been done on it. It was out at our camper trailer last summer. We kept it in our kitchen at home the rest of the time.

We have had the unit for about 18 months and no work has been done on it. It was out at our trailer for summer 2007 and there is no AC or heat when we are not there.

Has the magnetron recently been replaced?
Has any work been done to it recently?

It sounds like a defective or loose magnetron causing electrical
interference and disruption in the control circuit board.

    If
your magnetron was recently replaced, it may have loose mounting nuts
or bolts or maybe the wire mesh RF gasket was not installed or got
    pinched.

How long have you had the oven?

In this case I'm suspecting a bad magnetron that's emitting electrical interference or a problem on the control board.

I would contact Westinghouse Small Kitchen Appliances at 800-245-0600 or 800-947-3745 or visit here.

Good luck.

Is it possible to reheat something for 20 seconds? Just brought home Model #OGH31101S/OGH31102S

yes
just put it in and press the start button
most have a minimum of 30 seconds so when it counts down to 10 stop it and that is 20 seconds
you can reheat just about everything EXCEPT WHEAT BAGS as they accumulate the heat and can catch fire in the unit

How do you use the kitchen timer and cook at the same time?

If you have the kitchen timer set for instance for 10 minutes and it is counting down, and then you want to reheat you coffee for 2 minutes. You would hit either time cook or reheat button and enter 2 minutes ten hit start. The microwave will heat your coffee and show the 2 minute countdown for that. When done it will revert back to what is left on the 10 minute kitchen timer without missing a beat on most microwaves.

Hi, I bought this microwave yesterday, and set the clock as per manual.

Take it back to the store, there is nothing you can do, this is a manufacture issue.

My microwave is completely dead. I have checked the fuse in the plug and it is fine. Any suggestions?

Hello,

What you are to do to solve the problem is to do a general troubleshooting on your oven below are instruction to follow.

The Microwave is a counter top model with a variety of preset cooking options, including timed cooking at a variety of power levels and sensor-cooking settings for popcorn, rice, beverages and single-serving reheating.

The sensor cooking and reheating features detect increasing humidity levels inside the microwave and automatically adjust cooking time for various types and amounts of food. This microwave also includes a turntable and an electronic control panel.

Instructions below are step by step solution for your oven

  1. Check to see if the microwave will start. If it will not start and the display panel is blank, you may have a power problem. Unplug the microwave and then plug it back in, making sure that all three prongs of the power cord are fully inserted into the wall outlet. If this doesn't work, check your home's fuse box. Reset the circuit breaker to restore if necessary.
  2. Ensure that the microwave door is fully closed. Press the Clear/Off button to cancel any previous cooking instructions. Re-enter your cooking program, including cooking time and food weight if necessary, and press Start.
  3. If "Err" appears on the microwave display, press the Clear/Off button and reenter your cooking program. The "Err" message will appear during the sensor-controlled programs (Popcorn, Rice, Beverage or Reheat) if the door is opened before steam is detected or if no steam was detected within the maximum amount of time allowed by the microwave. Be sure to leave the door closed during these programs, at least until time is shown counting down on the display panel.
  4. If your control panel will not work or if an "L" is displayed on the screen, press and hold the Clear/Off button for a full three seconds to unlock the control panel.
  5. If your sensor reheat program is resulting in under- or overcooked food, first try decreasing the amount of food in the microwave; the sensor programs are designed for single servings of food. The sensor reheat function works by measuring humidity inside the microwave--do not use a tightly-covered dish with this setting because no moisture will be able to escape and the food will overcook. Be sure that cooking containers are dry; moist containers will increase the humidity in the microwave and mislead the sensor, resulting in undercooked food.
  6. If your turntable is not rotating, first check to ensure that your food container is positioned so that it can freely rotate without hitting the microwave's interior walls; using a smaller food container can fix this problem. If the turntable still will not rotate, lift the turntable from its support and replace it carefully, ensuring that it rests evenly on its support.
Good luck.

Thank you and thanks for using fixya.
