Power button blinks 3 times

You might want to check and see if that was the right lamp for that tv. You might have the wrong lamp

serial number on 6.17.8.1

MOST OF THESE SETS HAVE A SELF DIAGNOSTIC:

UNPLUG TV AND THEN PLUG BACK IN---TURN ON---GREEN POWER LIGHT COMES ONFOR A MOMENT AND GOES OFF.

PRESS AND HOLD "device" and "menu"buttons on front of tv for at least 5 seconds and then release both together.


Watch for power light to blink in a sequence:

1 blink-then 2 blinks-------no error

2 blink-then 1 blink-------X-ray protection

2 blink-then 2 blink-------SHORT PROTECTION*******

2 blink-then 3 blink---------deflection circuit problem

2 blink-then 4 blink---------vertical circuit problem


******2, then 2 is most common---usually means one of the fuses that protectthe Convergence IC or IC's is blown---set will detect no voltage to convergenceIC and shut down.


SET WILL REPEAT BLINK ERROR CODE UP TO 5 TIMES ANDTHEN TO GET IT TO REPEAT MORE YOUHAVE TO UNPLUG SET AND TRY TO TURN ON AGAIN.

The part number you indicate is the STK-393-110 convergence IC that this set uses--it is possible it is bad again--if properly installed it should not have failed for at least 5 years.

When the set shuts off, on the front of the set engage the self check feature this set has: when the power light goes off ON THE FRONT OF THE TV press both the MENU and INPUT buttons at the same time and hold them for at least 5 seconds and then release both buttons.

The power light should blink a two digit error code: for example--2 blinks, a pause and 2 blinks--this is the most common and it will repeat the code several times.

Check the fan that cools the bulb. It is directly behing the bulb. It should turn on when the power comes on. It apparently has a safety to protect your tv(and home). mine is in the process of going out. looking for online solutions as we speak.

IFyou feel confident and can locate switch mode power supply with back removed.
Try warming switchmode power supply before turning TV on.
If TV turns on normaly then there are some small capcitors that are a common cause of this fault.
Otherwise look for DRY or CRACKED solder jointson PCB
BUT DON'T do any of the above if your are not confident send it to a TV repaiman.

If it is the power LED that is flashing orange 2times every five seconds , it suggests that the Lamp Cover was not reinstalled correctly. Remove and reinstall it

Okay try to distinguish if the three blinks is 1 pause then 2 blinks or 2blinks pause 1 blink. As the set will only blink a two digit code 12 meaning no error detected and 21 meaning the set is hutdown due to xray protection.

Clicking sound is power relay engaging. If all systems are not functioning properly, unit will shut down to prevent further damage and/or fire hazard
