During a cross-country move, several heavy items were loaded on top of the door of my Neptune top-load washer; now the water jets at the back of the machine are misaligned with the door and water sprays all over during the fill process, and the softener compartment also does not receive water and remains full after the wash cycle. Can I bend the door back into shape without damaging it, or must I replace it?

Severe vibration/noise during spin cycle. What could the problem be and how do I fix it?

if the machine was run severely out of balance (rugs) you'll need to get a look in the back up near the top with a good flashlight , this involves unhooking power and hoses and turning it around , you may have broken a drum suspension link , this device (three) keeps the drum from contacting the shell , if its true and its allowed to run this way you will brake off water hoses on bottom of drum and water will runout on floor

Hole in Maytag Neptune front load washer door and flaking or melting of door.

Hello,
I've owned the same Neptune since 1999 and had this problem happen to me twice, the first time the inside molded plastic door melted through in a circular pattern and had to be replaced. The fact that it was circular indicates that something was rubbing during the high speed spin. That something was a stiff bottomed duffle bag that was rubbing on the plastic door during high speed spin. The washer was full of other clothes that didn't allow the duffle bag enough room in the washer tub, hence it pressed against the plastic door. The second time it happened I got a circular groove melted in, but not through, the plastic door... caused this time by a small child's back pack. I would make sure "rigid" items have enough room to "float" in the tub cavity by not putting in other clothing that over packs the washer.

My maytag neptune washer 6500AWW sounds like a jet engine when it spins. It sounds like it is going to fly apart. This is a new onset issue.

Hello there:
there is usually 2things that can cause this to happen
First is the self leveling feature needs to be reset do this by tilting the machine forwards towards you at least 2 feet then quickly set it back down also check the load that is in the machine to make sure it is not all on one side or the heavy stuff is not towards one side or overloaded
next if the transmission coupling is starting to fail this could cause this sort of sound during the high speed spin causing the tub to rub on the rubber seal that is around the top during this cycle so you may want to check this out too ok Please keep me posted on how this is going ok?
Best regards michael

I have a zanussi washer/dryer but lately its making so much noise !! its driving me nuts please tell me what it could be ?? thanks

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. If your washer is a front load washer then check these things if it is making noise--
Bellows
The bellows is a rubber sleeve that seals the suspended outer tub to the stationary cabinet front at the tub opening. Its purpose is to provide a water tight opening into the tub that can be sealed by the cabinet door, yet allow flexibility for the oscillation of the tub during the wash and spin cycles.
Outer Tub Assembly
The outer tub assembly is supported by two suspension springs and stabilized by two air shock assemblies. A cement counter weight is mounted to the front of the outer tub by screws. A counterweight is molded into the rear half of the outer tub. These counterweights prevent excessive oscillation of the entire suspended assembly during an unbalanced spin cycle.
Spin Basket Assembly
The spin basket is constructed of stainless steel. The circumference of the basket is perforated to allow water to flow through it as it revolves. A heavy steel shaft is pressed into the spin basket support which is then bolted to the basket. The spin basket assembly is entirely supported by two ball bearings pressed into the rear of the outer tub. A large drive pulley is mounted to the free end of the shaft that extends through the rear of the outer tub. There are three plastic vanes mounted to the spin basket to aid in the washing action during the wash cycle. The rotation of the spin basket provides both the washing action during the wash cycle, and water extraction during the spin cycle.

High pitch "jet engine" noise--A certain amount of motor whine is normal during the spin cycle.

Rattling and clanking noise--
• Foreign objects such as coins or safety pins may be in drum or pump. Stop washer and check drum. If noise continues after washer is restarted, objects may be in pump.
• Belt buckles and metal fasteners are hitting wash drum. To prevent unnecessary noise and damage to drum, fasten fasteners and turn items inside out.

Squealing sound or hot rubber odor-- Washer is overloaded. Do not overload washer. Stop washer and reduce load.

Thumping sound— Heavy wash loads may produce a thumping sound. This is usually normal. If sound continues, washer is probably out of balance. Stop washer and redistribute wash load.

Vibrating noise--
• Washer is not resting firmly on floor. Move washer so it rests firmly on floor. Adjust leveling legs. NOTE: Some shaking of the washer is normal without moving across the floor. See INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS for details.
• Shipping bolts and foam blocks have not been removed during installation. See INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS for removing shipping bolts and foam blocks.
• Wash load unevenly distributed in drum. Stop washer and rearrange wash load.

Please do rate the solution and revert for further assistance.

Thanks

Rylee

Flashing F what is this

This is usually too much detergent or severely out of balance load. Unplug the washer, this will allow you to open the door to re-balance or eliminate very heavy items from the drum. Close door re-plug and restart machine. If this doesn't do the trick repeat the unplug and reset the dial to rinse/spin to clear excess detergent once finished restart normal wash cycle.

Loud Noise

A common problem with the Neptune's and noise during the spin cycle happens when the bearings have gone out on the tub. Same problem I had. Replaced the bearings myself after ordering the parts and haven't had the noise since. It's back to working perfectly. Would only recommend you replace them if you're fairly mechanicaly inclined...it's a process but doable. Otherwise, call a service tech but be warned, they wanted to charge me $500...or I could buy a new tube with the bearing already installed for $800. Either way, isn't very cost effective depending on the age of the machine. If you know someone that's handy, there's tons of information on the web. I bought my parts from a guy on eBay and he included a service manual for my Neptune for free.

Your drain filter is clogged with debris. Usually small items like dirt, paper, money, and much more. Clean the filter and you should be set to go.

I hope this information allows you to resolve this issue. If you need further assistance, please post back with a comment to this thread. If I've managed to answer your question or solve a problem, please take just a moment to rate this post....thanks!
