The a/c starts blowing cold then it starts showing outside temp as cold, so it automatically starts blowing hot air. I know there is an ambient temperature sensor, but is there also a sun sensor?
The ambient temperature sensor going bad causes this exact problem. I've replaced many of them because when they show outside temp as being below 60 degrees, the A/C control module will shut the compressor off.

Where the A/C hoses go into the fire wall , are there hot , cold ? Low on refrigerant . Not blowing cold air , is there air blowing out of the center vents ?
It sounds like the system is fried. Based on the description, it is just pulling in the outside air and not doing anything to heat or cool the flow. Unfortunately, this is a job for your preferred mechanic.
your auxillary fan is not working. this fan is responsible for cooling the freon that is being circulated in your cooling system... check if there are any loose wires in front of the engine bay.
the auxillary fan is located right beside your radiator fan.
You have air in the cooling system. With the engine cold, remove the radiator cap (or overflow bottle cap if no radiator cap) and let the engine get to operating temp. Add coolant if it is low. There is no way to guess which of the 3000 codes your car has set without scanning it for codes.
Start the vehcle and let it warm up then set all the controls to heater? Then turn off the car. Use the remote start to start the vehicle and check the controls are still set to heat mode.
Had the same problem, replaced the ambient air temp sensor in front of the radiator. Cost is like 10-15 bucks. Don't worry if temp doesn't change right away. Took me about 5 miles and then it worked great.
