Asus x553 has been showing configuring windows features 100% complete don't turn off your computer message for 24 hours

Hi
This sometimes happens when updates are not successfully downloaded or installed. I know it says don't turn it off, but this is the only way you'll get it back. Hold the power button down for at least 5 seconds until the power goes off. Wait a minute or two and start the machine up. Upon boot you will probably get a screen asking if you want to start the machine normally, in safe mode and several other options. Try start Windows normally first, and if this doesn't work, Last Known Good Configuration. If this fails as well then you will probably need to go into safe mode and uninstall some of the latest updates.
Hope this is helpful, if so would you please register that with Fixya
Cheers

My alienware aurora desktop is taking a lot now to boot and i can only see the mouse pointer and a black screen... is it normal? it has been 10-15 minutes now waht should i do?

I checked your system specification and your system should boot fast. And 10-15 mins boot time? That's not normal. Here's what I would like you to try.
1. Restart the pc. Press F8 immediately and keep tapping it while starting up. (you should get advanced option screen). 2. select safe mode.
NOTE: if the system start up fine in safe mode. it means your having issues with your normal windows environment. If it's still doing the same thing. The hard drive is about give up. (try running hard drive diagnostic).
Good Luck!

No good computer stuck no good i say

While the pc is powered on, load the windows cd into the cd rom and restart the pc by pressing the CTRL+ALT+DEL keys, when the pc reboots you should see a black screen with white letters asking you to press any key to boot from the cd.

Carefully following the options install Windows and then to repair the operating system. NOT the repair console option.

If you are not asked to do a repair then stop as this solution wont work and you will likely need to reinstall Windows.

At this point windows should repair any damage files and reboot. Following the reboot, do not press any key, instead wait for Windows to boot normally, you can remove the cd after Windows boots.

When I turn it on toshiba logo comes on and then it says that there either was apower failer or it was not shut down propley and it says to start windows normally when I do that nothing happans screan goes...

When it asks you to start windows in normal, there is also an option for Safe Mode. Select safe mode and boot. Once you have booted in safe mode, you can reboot and let it boot normally (it will not ask now).

Cannot start up the laptop

Hi there.
That really quick flash of a blue screen is the blue screen of death and there is a possibility that the error could be memory related.
What you have to do is remove and clean the system memory and the slots the memory goes into.
Take out the battery and the AC power (if attached)
The memory will be located behind a panel underneath the laptop, unscrew the panel unclip the memory, clean the brass contacts and the slots with a clean, dry, soft paintbrush, then reseat the memory making sure it clips into place, replace the memory cover and reboot the laptop, see if it lets you into windows.

Please post back with the results and more help if needed, good luck and thanks for using FixYa!!

My Toshiba satellite A25-s207 laptop will not boot up

Does it restart and then ask to go into windows safe mode, things like that. If so here something to try.

I can help, Leave everything to me!!!!

Im asuming its doing what is called, " The windows boot loop" or as well call it at work anyways.

Dels are known for this.

let me guess, it starts up normally, gets to the windows startup but asks you to pick between 4 different start up options like safe mode.

Do you have your original CD that came with it, or at least a windows XP CD?

You will need one.

What you do is,

1st: Bot from CD. Start the machine with the Winxp CD in the drive, hit F12 for boot options, or whatever key function it is. Do this as soon as you turn it on,

2: select " Boot from CD" and press any key when it askes if you want to boot from CD.

3: It will load like your doing a fresh install of windows. Thats alright, its normal and no it wont re-install windows at this point.

4: Once it loads, it will have some options. Pres " R" for repair.

It will go out and to the command prompt after about 5 seconds.

5: once at the command prompt, type in exactly ( CHKDSK C: /P ) Dont include the ( ) . Then press "Enter key "

6: after it runs the disk check, normally about 3 to 5 minutes, It will finishand go back to C:/

Just type ( EXIT ), Enter key, and let it reboot.

you can remove the disk now or later, shouldnt matter, It will go to the options screen like before, but just let it default to the normal startup, or hit enter.

Windows should now load fine and you shouldnt get that message at startup anymore.

WHY THIS HAPPENED?, you may be asking.

For some reason, certain Dell Hardware and software conflict, usually when you have installed some new program, or for just no reason.

Your Boot Up files get corrupt or cleared and windows needs those to start.

What you did was re-installed those windows files.

Now copy and paste into a word document and print it out in case it happens again. Not likley but it could.

This works with any computer experienceing this issue, usually, unless there is something worse going on.

You can help other now that you know how and become a hero, make sure to charge them $10 though for your time:)

Let me know if this doesnt work and we can try something else.

Good Luck.

Boot problem

Try runing the machine into safe mode.

Turn your computer off.

Wait 30 seconds.

Just before the Windows screen appears, press f8.

Select safe mode.

One the desktop is loaded up, restart the computer the normal way.

See if that fixes the problem.
