Just bought magnum 3016 coil cable lock. How do I open it and set own combination?

16 STEPS THERE ARE.:
Turn the steering wheel so that the vehicle's wheels are pointing straight ahead.

Turn the ignition switch to LOCK.

Disconnect the negative battery cable, and wait at least 5 minutes.

Disconnect the yellow 2-way SRS connector located under the steering column.

WARNING

The wheels of the vehicle must be straight ahead and the steering column in the "LOCK" position before disconnecting the steering wheel. Failure to do so will cause the coil assembly to become uncentered which will cause damage to the coil assembly.

Remove the engine hood opening lever and steering lower cover.

Remove driver knee bolster (reinforcement).

Loosen the inflator module fixing bolt from behind the steering wheel assembly using a Torx® driver or equivalent until the inflator module can be released from steering assembly.

Disconnect the yellow 2-way SRS connector and horn lead located behind the inflator module


Apply a setting mark (1) across the steering wheel and shaft so parts can be reassembled in their original position, then remove steering wheel

Move the front wheels to the straight ahead position, then use steering wheel remover J-29752 to remove the steering wheel

WARNING

Never apply force to the steering wheel in direction of the shaft by using a hammer or other impact tools in an attempt to remove the steering wheel. The steering shaft is designed as an energy absorbing unit. Remove steering column cover.

12. Disconnect the wiring harness connectors located under the steering column.

Remove the combination switch assembly with SRS coil.

NOTE

The SRS coil is a part of the combination switch assembly, which can not be replaced separately. Therefore, be sure not to remove the SRS coil from the combination switch assembly.

Remove snap ring. <<<<<<I GUESS YOU ARE HERE?

Remove the rubber cushion.

Remove shift lock cable (for A/T).

Disconnect the starter switch harness connector located under the 16:steering column then remove lock cylinder assembly.

Open the lock using the original combination, which was 0000 for mine. Once open, you will find two tabs on the lock side--on top and bottom of the lock portal. Push in both tabs, and hold them down while you set the new combination. Once it is set, put the post back in to make sure it is still open. Twist the dials to lock it, and then you should be able to unlock using your new combination.

I bought one today and the shop told me what to do: assuming you have the lock open...
Look down the end with the hole where there is a knurled knob inscribed "reset" on the end with an arrow . Turn to the right - clockwise - following the arrow. Now set the new number you want. Then twist the knurled knob back to the left... and you've done it!

To set/reset combination on TSA Cable Lock

TSA Cable Locks come preset from the factory to 0-0-0. Set the combination to 0-0-0 or your already chosen combination. if different than 0-0-0. To set the combination, use a pointed device such as a pen to press in on B. While pressing on B (do not release B until combination is set), pick your 3 digit combination.

Once all 3 dials are set to the combination you want, release B. Your TSA Cable lock Is now set to your combination. TSA Lock will NOT be locked at this new combination - turn one or more dials and your lock will be locked. To unlock, follow instructions above.

Please make sure to remember your combination!

We just got a sunlite lock and figured it out. After it is unlocked with 0000 and the lock opened, the end spins to a "set" position. Set the numbers you want, spin the end back, and lock will be set to those numbers.

Krypto has the resetting of the combination lock on their website (under Maintenance) but if you cannot unlock it in the first place you can not reset the combination. You have to know the old combination to get it open.

Try 0005 (It worked for me)

which is not the cryptoflex 1218 but is compatible anyway.

dont hurt your fingers trying to depress the nodules as the diagram says though. to my chagrin i discovered that they will turn easily if you just push them around into place.

here are the instructions:

To set your own combination
Your new lock is preset to open at 0-0-0-5 at the factory.
1. Open the lock by aligning the opening combination
number to the Guide Points and pull out the Lock
Post. (Figure 1)
2. Push down the two Reset Buttons simultaneously
with thumb and forefinger, and turn counterclockwise
until it comes to a stop. (Figure 2)
3.You are now ready to turn the dials to set your
secret combination, such as a phone number, birthday,
etc.
4. After setting your secret combination, turn the
two Reset Buttons again by Thumb and Forefinger
clockwise until it comes to a stop and back to its
original position.
5. Verify your new combination before using your
lock. Insert the Lock Post all the way into the Locking
Port but do not turn the dials. Pull out the Lock Post.
Your lock is ready to use.
6.The reset operation is now complete. Repeat
steps 1-5 anytime you wish to change your secret
combination.
