Microsoft wireless laser keyboard 6000 v2 - keys suddenly stopped/not working

I replaced the batteries (I am typing this note from a different computer/same kind of keyboard) and reset button on the back, but I cannot "log on" as I need to type in a password...and keystrokes won't register even when I place the cursor directly to the area (NOTE: wireless mouse works fine!). Help. Kathy upstate,NY

I have a wireless laser keyboard 6000 v2.0 and the keyboard works for a few seconds only after replacing the batteries or switching the PC on. The keyboard will work for a few seconds only and the battery light dies also after a few seconds. I also have a wireless laser mouse 5000 v1.0 which is working fine. I have tried the wireless desktop set on machines running XP or Vista and the same problem happens. It seems I'm not alone as others are posting the same problems but no-one has yet mentioned a suitable my keyboard just dead!?

I had the same problem! There was moister in the key pads underneath. I open it and let the main pad to dry. It parts from three layers of gelatins and the moister was among them. I hope that this will solve and your problem .

How can u open up a Wireless Keyboard 6000?!
I've removed all the screws and keys, but it seems very tight to just force it open. I already double checked for extra unseen screws but everything is out. Please help me!

Same issue. Happened once and then it started working on its own after a little while. Second time it happened its not coming back. Also when i press the button on the transmitter the lights blink (normal), but pressing the keyboard button doesnt sync up the transmitter, which leads me to believe that it must be the internal antenna in the keyboard.(like the solution listed). I'll try it and see.

I had the same problem, i checked the batteries with a DMM and the measured 1.4v i replaced the batteries with new and i still had the same problem. anyway i ended up taking the keyboard apart and found where the antenna is connected to a push on type connector alongside the pcb board inside the keyboard, the connection was slightly corroded. i cleaned it up and it is working fine know, even with the old batteries.

Yeah, to associate the keyboard, you get to hit the reset one on the transmitter too, then the keyboard.  You doublechecked the batteries and did that by now though, right?

This is a known issue with this product don't waste your time trying to figure it out. If you are lucky you get one that will work for you if you are not lucky you'll get one of these faulty ones and will have this issue. It's a manufacture defect and not user error.

I had a problem with the Microsoft wireless keyboard/mouse 1000.
the green light on the transmitter which would stay lit on F. stoped lighting up. the mouse would work but the keyboard would not.

I tried sveral times to hit the reset button on the keyboard to no avail. put new batteries in. still nothing.  however i just tried it again. i hit the reset button about 6-7l times in a row and now im typing on the keyboard again. but the F light still does not light up. but the mouse and keyboard are both work now though

The enter key in the keypad area stopped working. All of the sudden when you press the key you get nothing.

Buy a replacement keyboard -- much cheaper than paying a technician to attempt to trouble-shoot.

Responsibly recycle the old keyboard.

Microsoft wireless notebook laser mouse 6000 not working

I have a miscrosoft wireless laser mouse 6000, and it also stopped working on my laptop. I changed the battery, still no workie. I tested the battery in another device, and it was good. I moved the mouse to another computer, and it did not work. The light on the usb connector was lit. [No changes at all to my laptop.]. It seemed like there was no power to the mouse, and I looked at the contacts inside the mouse. The contact just inside the mouse's opening for the battery appeared to be bent down (away from the contact on the battery tray). So, I pulled it up a little so it would connect when the battery drawer closed, and (after tweaking it a couple of times), it finally worked!

Microsoft wireless laser keyboard 6000 v2.0 keyboard not working

You have to press the button on the receiver that is directly connected to the computer. While doing this, press the connect button both the mouse and the keyboard. I did this and now my keyboard is working, despite the battery indicator turning itself off a few seconds after I install it.

Hope this solves your problem.
