? Cold Reset
CAUTION All HP Jetdirect settings are also reset. Be sure to print a configuration page
before performing a cold reset. Make a note of the IP address that is listed on the Jetdirect
page. You must restore the IP address after performing a cold reset.
Use this item to unlock menus that have been previously locked and to set all control panel menu
items (including EIO settings) back to the factory defaults. However, using this item does not clear
the values in the SERVICE menu (such as the serial number and page counts).
NOTE Before performing a cold reset, print a menu map and a configuration page.
Use the information on the configuration page to reset any customer-set device configuration values that the cold reset procedure changes.

51.20 error

Hi Do the following and good luck. You may have to sen away for parts.

So, please perform the following steps to isolate the issue to its exact cause:

1. Power is an important part of LaserJet printing and inadequate or marginal power supply can cause this sort of issue to occur. Please plug the printer directly into a wall outlet to eliminate the possibility of power issues caused by other power devices.
2. Then, remove the black cartridge and clean the E-label as well as the metallic toner contacts at the cartridge ends using a dry linen cloth. Then reinsert the cartridge.

3. Then, please perform a cold reset on the printer. A cold reset clears all data from the printer memory and sets all the defaults back to the factory settings.

CAUTION: Performing a cold reset resets the Jetdirect configuration. To avoid making changes to the network configuration, remove the HP Jetdirect print server before performing a cold reset.

NOTE: If possible, print a configuration page and menu map prior to performing a cold reset. This will document the current settings for later reference.

Perform a cold reset from the printer as follows:

a. Turn the printer on.

b. Watch the control panel.

c. When the memory starts counting, press and hold the green (Select) button. Continue to hold Select button until all three Control Panel LED's are illuminated and on solid.

d. Release the (Select) button.

e. The control panel will display SELECT LANGUAGE.

f. Press (Down Arrow) button until control panel displays COLD RESET.

g. Press (Select). The printer will perform a cold reset and then continue its power-on sequence.

Hi,

Blow are the steps to do a "cold reset" on your HP m5035 MFP Printer. Just be reminded though that you will lose all stored info on the printer and it will restore it to factory settings.

How to perform a Cold Reset:

1. Turn the off the device.

3. Continue to hold down the 6 button until all three control-panel LEDs remain illuminated. Release the 6 button.

5. Press 6 to select the Cold Reset function.

Hope this helps.

My hp 5200 printer prints extra sets of multi page documents when only 1 copy has been selected for output. Is this a printer setting that I can change? Is there someway to reset to its default settings?

Here ya go sir, this is a cold reset option and it will reset all back to factory defaults so if there are setting you want back, you may want to print out a config report prior to resetting...

1. Turn the printer off.

2. Turn the printer on. When the printer begins its memory count, press and hold down until all
three printer control-panel lights flash once and then remain on. This might take up to 10 seconds.

3. Release .

4. After SELECT LANGUAGE appears on the control-panel display, press or until COLD
RESET
is highlighted.

5. Press . The printer performs a cold reset and then continues its power-on sequence.

6. Check all I/O settings and reset any customer-set printer configuration values.

hope this helps and if so please mark this as a fixya for me sir...

HP LaserJets - Cold Reset Instructions Cold resetting a printer resets the printer to factory defaults. Please note: Any settings you make at the printers control panel will be reset to factory defaults, including the IP address if you have a JetDirect card installed. Remove the JetDirect card while you cold reset the printer if you don't want to erase the JetDirect card's settings.

You can also reset the NVRAM. Resetting the NVRAM will clear the page count and reset the service mode settings to factory defaults. On printers with a display panel you need to enter service mode to manually change the information stored in NVRAM. On printers that don't have a display panel, such as a 5P, 6P, 2100, 2200 there is a different procedure outlined below.

"Older" printers with a display panel. (e.g. 4000, 4100, 5si, 8000, etc.)

Cold resetting the printer is simply a matter of turning the power off, holding down the GO or Online button while turning the printer on.
Resetting NVRAM settings must be done manually through service mode. See entering service mode.
"Newer" printers with a display panel. (e.g. 2300, 2400, 4200, 4250/4350, 4300, etc.)

Turn the printer off and then on. When the printer begins its memory count, press and hold down the Checkmark button until all the main LED signal lights illuminate and stay illuminated. Then release the Checkmark button, and use the Up/Down arrow keys to find the Cold Reset option, then press the Checkmark button again to choose that option.

To reset the NVRAM. Turn the printer off. Press and hold the Go button for 20 seconds while powering on the printer.
HP 2100 - To perform a cold reset, turn the printer power off, then press and hold the JOB CANCEL button. Turn the printer power back on and after all the LEDs come on release the JOB CANCEL button. Hi patricia_kin:
Hope this helps.

Cold reset
A cold reset unlocks menus that have been previously locked and resets all control-panel menu

serial number and the page counts.
NOTE Before performing a cold reset, print a menu map and a configuration page. See
Information pages. Use the information on these pages to reset customer-specific settings.
CAUTION All HP Jetdirect settings are also reset. Be sure to print a configuration page
before performing a cold reset. Make note of the IP address that is listed on the Jetdirect
configuration page. You will need to restore the IP address after performing a cold reset. See
Configuring and verifying an IP address.
To perform a cold reset
1
Turn the MFP off and then on.
2 When the memory count appears on the control-panel display, press and hold 6 until all three
LEDs flash once and then stay on. This might take up to 20 seconds.
3 Press 3 four times until COLD RESET appears on the control-panel display.
4 Press 6 one time. The MFP continues its initialization sequence.

Record LAN settings before resetting the printer. Reconfigure LAN settings after the reset if you are using a LAN connection). To avoid resetting the LAN settings disable the embedded Jetdirect before performing a Cold Reset by choosing the Disable LAN option from the choices available when you get to step 5 below. Note that after choosing to disable the LAN it is necessary to reboot the printer and then choose to perform the Cold Reset . During the power up sequence only one operation can be performed at a time. In this case, first disable the LAN, then reboot the printer and perform the Cold Reset followed by another reboot to reenable the LAN.
To perform a cold reset:
  1. Turn the printer power off.
  2. Power on the printer and watch for the memory count to begin.
  3. Hold down the SELECT (Checkmark) button, when you see the memory count begin.
  4. Continue holding down the SELECT (Checkmark) button until all three printer control-panel lights flash once and then remain on. This might take up to 10 seconds.
  5. After the message SELECT LANGUAGE appears on the display, press the UP ARROW button or the DOWN ARROW button until COLD RESET appears on the display
  6. Press the SELECT (Checkmark) button. The printer performs a cold reset and then continues its power-on sequence.
  7. Check all I/O settings and reset any user-set printer configuration values. NOTE: Before the I/O (LAN) settings can be reset to their correct values the embedded Jetdirect must first be renabled to make those options visible and available on the control panel of the printer. Laser printer keeps printing hp ads

Hello,
Please perform the following:
If the printer is connected via network, unplug the network cable and perform cold reset.

Cold reset A cold reset changes most system parameters in NVRAM to the factory defaults. However, unlike NVRAM initialization, a cold reset does not reset the page count, the paper tray sizes, language, or formatter number.
A cold reset also resets all the HP Jetdirect settings as well as the printer settings. Use the following procedure to perform a cold reset.
  1. Turn off the printer.
  2. Press and hold the Go button.
  3. Turn the printer on, and continue to hold the Go button for at least 5 seconds, but not longer than 15 seconds. During this process, the Attention LED turns on.
  4. Release the Go button.
If both the Attention and the Ready LEDs turn on before you release the Go button, you must start the procedure again with step 1.
The printer's LEDs begin cycling. The cold-reset process runs until completion, and the printer returns to the ready state.

Then uninstall / delete the previous drivers and install the drivers from the following link:
