the discovery electrolux are different. :)
The top comes off, not the bottom like other vacuums.
After taking the screws out, turn the vacuum on its side (vacuum handle to your left, front of vacuum to your right when looking at bottom).
There are two rectangular holes, one on top above the wheel and one on bottom below the other wheel. Place a flat head screw driver in one of the holes and pry gently, pushing handle of screwdriver toward your right. At same time pull up on top plastic of vacuum. Do the same thing for the other side. Top should come off.
Best to you.
Lay vacuum on table or other surface on it's front.
Remove the 4-5 screws on the base plate.
There may be a rectangular hole on each side of the wheels. If so, insert a standard screwdriver and rotate gently to release latches.
Carefully hold the halves together and turn vacuum onto it's back.
Lifting from the back, remove the power nozzle cover.
If replacing the belt or brush, remove the screws located at each end of the brush. Lift brush out and remove belt.
You can no replace the belt, brush, or both. I also recommend giving the insides a good cleaning before reassembling. Make sure when you reassemble, insert the lip of the cover into the slot, then close the back. Some gentle manipulating may be necessary.
Flip the power head upside down and look for 5 black screws recessed in the bottom of the head...2 mid way back and 3 along the brush area. Once removed the lid should lift off. Be careful not to disturb the wiring harness. The brush roll has a pulley and bearing end. Both should be cleaned and any hair or thread removed. The motor screws will have tensioning positions for the new belt so leave enough slack so the new belt depresses slightly. You will find a replacement at vac shop or thru AERUS Electrolux dealers
