Question about iLO DVD Recorder DVDR05

I have a new HDTV and cannot get picture from DVD player

having same kind of problem but the tv is an analog using a convertor. only time i can get a picture is when the convertor is switching from hd to analog

If you go from antenna to ILO to tv it WILL be analog cause the ILO has an analog tuner not a digital one. Maybe that conflicts with the HD TV.

I have my antenna hooked to my convertor box, the converter hooked up to the ILO (A/V connections) then, the output on the ILO to the input of my analog tv. (Video selection on my tv). It works great to watch tv and/or record. I switch to the "DVD SOURCE" to watch dvds. Maybe you have the conv box hooked to the tv then the outs on the tv to the dvd. That would explain why you can get a picture but not watch dvd? The ILO has to go between the box and the tv in order to watch dvd.

Try another brand of blank dvd's a -R or +R as this is a compatibly issue

If all else fails buy verbatims as they are universal

Dvd player will not play

I have had bad experiences with cheap recorders like ilo. I don't even use mine anymore. Don't wait like I did. Walmart will not take this back after 30 days so go get a new one before your stuck with it. Either do that or buy one that costs more. I think ilo is junk.

Ilo dvd recorder do not recognize any dvd

According to www.dvdrhelp.com that this unit is very picky on what discs it will record on. Look up unit and read the large number of reviews in DVD Recorder section

Hooking it up correctly

If you hook up using the tuner in ILO you will lose digital signal to the HDTV (it will still go thru but only as analog) so... Use a splitter from the antenna coax to the "antenna in", then you can hook Ilo output to the tv inputs. You can watch/record analog through the ILO and still switch back digital non recording on HDTV thru its own separate tuner. Hook up the dvd player outputs to the ILO inputs(use the front ones is easiest) and then select SOURCE, pick corresponding inputs and enter. You can watch/record from other dvds that way but not from copyrighted ones, It will say protected content. I would only hook up dvd player temporarily to record from dvd player, then to watch dvd's just hook it up to HDTV. If you can select progressive scan on player to HD it might be even better picture but I don't have HDTV so I'm not sure how that works. You're not trying to use the "Tuner" in the ILO are you? Bypass it and use the A/V cables from the "out" of the converter box. I think mine also has the coax type cable from the "to tv" to the ILO, then from the "to tv" on the ILO to the television. Either way should work. Mine works great, its a zenith and I have successfully recorded to discs in my ILO. Just change the Source back to the DVD source to watch a dvd or select the corresponding A/V connections that are hooked to your convertor box to watch/record television.

ILO Recorder DVD05R - Playback jumps 10min, 20 min and more...

Does the disc still play in other dvd player? My ILO has always been picky to play rentals so I just have a cheap COBY player hooked up to front inputs of my ILO. I use it to watch the dvds, only use the Ilo to record. Saves wear and tear on my ILO but cannot find a universal remote to operate them both and my tv. If it still records okay thats what I would do, just watch the discs in a secondary unit. Sounds like time to start shopping for new recorder.
