My Danby DFF8802W has some issue(s). The fan at the back of the freezer has stopped working causing the fridge to be to warm and the freezer to barely freeze even at the coldest setting. Other than replacing the fan is there any other troubleshooting I can do before ordering the new fan motor, i.e. thermostat, etc.?

SOURCE: freezer/fridge won't get cold enough

Madezmom, you have a defrost issue. If your model starts with 106 you more than likley have a bad defrost bi-metal, I will attach a picture of bad one. This sits on the evaporator in the freezer section behind the panel. You will have to remove the shelves and remove the back panel. Defrost the evaporator completely. The part number for the bi-metal is 2196155. See if yours is bulged like the one in the attached photo. If so, that's your problem..Catriver..post back.

SOURCE: After defrosting the freezer the whole fridge doesn't work (is warm!)

sounds like the compressor is locked up or the relay on the compressor is bad. whats happening is its drawing too much current and cutting out from the overlaod relay. that may be a bad compressor or the start relay. both the overload and the relay are under the black box on the front of the compressor. you will need to check the relay to make sure its good, and also the compressor. there should be a wiring diagram on the back that will tell you how many ohms from terminal to terminal on the compressor. hope it helped if its a newer unit the relays are electronic and if you shake it and hear like little sand pebbles in it most likley its bad and thats why it wont run.

SOURCE: FREEZER IS COLD BUT NOT FREEZING WELL,FRIDGE IS NOT AS COLD AS IT SHOULD BE

Your freezer fan has stopped working or jammed. It's also possible that your defrost timer has stopped working and that the airways in the freezer are clogged with ice and the air can't circulate to the fridge. One of the two. Good Luck!!

SOURCE: WHIRLPOOL CB18M FRIDGE FREEZER

3 things to check. If you didn't adjust the damer from the freezer to the refrigerator, like closed it off. Is the freezer fan running? The fan blows air from the freezer to the refrigerator section. Some fans shut off when the door is open so you may have to push in the door switch to check this out.
Look for ice on the back wall, of the freezer section, If present then the defrost cycle is not working. The evap. coil is icing up and there is no air blowing into the refrigerator. Set the thermostat back to the normal setting it just causes a longer run time on the freezer section.

Danby fridge old model - freeze working but fridge section does not

Yes it has a fan you should here it and feel it. It sounds like your defrost coil may have gone out. Take the back pannel of the freezer off and see if it is clogged with frost.

My Hotpoint fridge fan in the back of the freezer will turn on for a very short time and then stop not allowing cold air to the bottom

Fridge with a freezer on top?

That is normally caused by an issue with the defrost timer. At the back of the freezer, you have the evaporator coils and because the defrost timer fails, it becomes one huge lump of ice. Because there is no air flow through it, cold air isn't vented down to the fridge.

most common cause is ref not defrosting, another cause could be the freezer fan not running... if u find ice built up on the back wall of freezer that's a classic defrost issue...on rare occasions the air damper may closed not letting air to pass.....hope this helped...... ken

Just a thought i would check if there. Is it possible an ice build up around the fan could be stopping it from turning?

My refrigerator is warm but the light inside turns on and i have it set to cold, it just stopped working today

Have you unplugged the fridge sir? checked for any electrical disconnections? dust clogging your tubules in the back? Enough space between the wall and fridge in the back? sometimes these will do it. Your fridge needs air to oxygenate the tubules so that it does not overheat and not work.

Fridge/Freezer cools intermittently

It could be the thermostat. When you catch it in a cycle where it's warming up, gently tap the dial with the handle of a screw driver. If it starts chances are it's bad. If you know electricty you can jump the two terminals on the thermostat to do this test.
