Hello,

Cross-cut shredders require monthly oiling of the cutting cylinders to maintain proper operation. Failure to oil the blades regularly could result in excessive noise during operation.

Oiling Your Shredder's Cutting Blades:

To keep your shredder in top condition, the cutting blades need to be oiled every so often (for frequency, please refer to your owner's manual). We recommend using Powershred® Lubricant or a vegetable-based oil (such as corn or canola) in a non-aerosol container with an extension nozzle.

Caution: Never use flammable synthetic oil, petroleum-based, or aerosol lubricants to oil the cutting blades. Some agents may combust, causing serious injury. NEVER USE WD40.

1. Depress and hold the reverse button down.
2. Put the tip of the oil bottle in the paper entry and make one or two sweeps the length of the entry while squeezing the oil bottle.
3. Move the power switch to Auto (I) position, or depress the manual forward button (depending on model of shredder) and allow the blades to run at least three seconds.
4. Move the power switch to Reverse (R) position and allow it to run for at least three seconds.
5. Repeat steps three and four above at least three times.

I hope the above helps....

Good luck.

Makes grinding noise and does not pull the paper in or shred. I have pulled out all bits of paper stuck between the teeth. I'm afraid this thing is toast

Sadly... I have the same problem. I took it apart And found a huge chunk of paper corners stuck in it. It shredded all but the end of the (10 stacked paper) . Note to self. Don't lend things out .

Hi my 1986 golf MK1 makes a knocking noise in the front which sounds like its on the body while driving, please help.

Those bushes would have to be shredded or missing for it to make a knocking sound. And should be a visible problem, I would think.

Will not shred, but makes clicking noise, will run in reverse

Possible that the actuator which feeds paper in has gotten affected. With the unit UNPLUGGED try looking to see if some paper has gotten wedged in there. If you can disassemble it you might be able to see the problem. Good Luck.

Shredder makes a horrible sound when shredding.

Just put a lightweight shredder oil on some paper and shred the paper...do this a number of times this will get the oil down into the cutting shafts.

Shredding no more

if the unit is pulling paper thru but not shredding your cutters have separated for some reason. If not pulling paper thru but machine is running you probally have a broken gear causing cutters to no longer turn you may hear a clunking or grinding noise or gear may be stripped if shredder sounds like it is spinning freely. Contact manufacturer for parts availability.
