Hp officejet 6500 instructions for receiving a fax? Thanks

You can receive faxes automatically or manually. If you turn off the Auto Answer option, you must receive faxes manually. If you turn on the Auto Answer option (the default setting), the device automatically answers incoming calls and receives faxes after the number of rings that are specified by the Rings to Answer setting. (The default Rings to Answer setting is five rings.)
If you receive a legal-size fax and the device is not currently set to use legal-size paper, the device reduces the fax so that it fits on the paper that is loaded. If you have disabled the Automatic Reduction feature, the device prints the fax on two pages.
NOTE: If you are copying a document when a fax arrives, the fax is stored in the
device memory until the copying finishes. This can reduce the number of fax pages stored in memory.
This section contains the following topics:
• Receive a fax manually
• Set up backup fax reception
• Reprint received faxes from memory
• Poll to receive a fax
• Forward faxes to another number
• Set the paper size for received faxes
• Set automatic reduction for incoming faxes
• Block junk fax numbers
• Receive faxes to your computer (Fax to PC and Fax to Mac)
Receive a fax manually
When you are on the phone, the person you are speaking with can send you a fax while you are still connected. This is referred to as manual faxing. Use the instructions in this section to receive a manual fax.
NOTE: You can pick up the handset to talk or listen for fax tones.
You can receive faxes manually from a phone that is:
• Directly connected to the device (on the 2-EXT port)
• On the same phone line, but not directly connected to the device
NOTE: The automatic document feeder must be empty to receive a fax. If there are documents in the ADF, then the device will not be able to receive incoming faxes.
To receive a fax manually
1. Make sure the device is turned on and you have paper loaded in the input tray.
2. Remove any originals from the document feeder tray.
NOTE: The automatic document feeder must be empty to receive a fax. If there
are documents in the document feeder, then receiving the fax will be
unsuccessful.
3. Do one of the following to answer a fax manually:
• Set the Rings to Answer setting to a high number to allow you to answer the
incoming call before the device answers.
• Turn off the Auto Answer setting so that the device does not automatically
answer incoming calls.
4. If you are currently on the phone with the sender, instruct the sender to press Start on their fax machine.
5. When you hear fax tones from a sending fax machine, do the following:
a. Press START FAX Black or START FAX Color on the device control panel.
b. When prompted, select Fax Receive.
NOTE: Depending on your country/region, the device might receive the fax
automatically when you hear fax tones from the sending fax machine.
6. After the device begins to receive the fax, you can hang up the phone or remain on the line. The phone line is silent during fax transmission.

I have a konica bizhub 200. We can send faxes out

As a first thing to try, with most faxes that send but do not receive, it's usually down to a glitch.

Try shutting the bizhub down fully, then unplugging it physically from the power source for at least 30 seconds. Plug it back in and turn the unit back on, then have someone try and send you a fax.

If this does not remedy your problem, please indicate with a follow-up comment.

Issue The product cannot receive a fax, but it sends faxes successfully. All other functions work correctly. Usethe following solutions in the order presented to resolve the issue. When one of the solutions resolves the issue, there is no need tocontinue troubleshooting. Solution one: Run a fax diagnostic test
  1. On the product control panel, press the Setup button (c01461502.gif).
  2. Press the Right Arrow button (c01185072.jpg) to select Tools.
  3. Press the Right Arrow button (c01185072.jpg) to select Run Fax Test, and then press OK. The fax diagnostic test prints.
  4. Review the results of the test.
    • If the test lists faxing issues and solutions, the fax test failed. Follow the solutions on the printed report totroubleshoot the issue. This report is specific to your product andfaxing environment, so try the solutions on the report before tryingthe next solution in this document.
    • If the test does not show faxing issues and solutions, the fax test passed. Continue to the next solution.
Solution two: Test the receiving function Follow these steps to make sure the receiving function works correctly.
  1. Makesure the originator of the fax has the correct fax number for yourproduct, and then ask that person to send a test fax to your product.Watch the control panel display and listen to the sounds the productmakes.
  2. Review the results of the receiving function test:
    • If the product receives the fax correctly, you resolved the issue. You do not need to continue troubleshooting.
    • If the product does not ring or does not answer the call from the other fax machine, ask the originator of the fax to send the test fax again. If the second try fails, go to Solution eleven in this document.
    • If the message on the control panel reads ' Answering' and does not change to ' Connecting', the product is not detecting the other fax machine. Go to Solution eleven in this document.
    • If the product rings briefly, and then stops, another device answered the call. Continue to the next solution to continue troubleshooting.
Solution three: Check for conflicting telephone services Many telephone companies offer services that prevent unwanted calls. The following services might block incoming faxes:
  • Voice mail
  • Privacy block
  • Security screen
  • Anonymous call rejection
  • Privacy manager
  • Any other service that screens or intercepts incoming calls
If any of these services are on the telephone line connected to theproduct, contact the telephone service provider for its recommendedsolution. A distinctive ring service, if it is available from the telephone service provider, often resolves this issue. Solution four: Use an analog phone service HPdesigns Fax and All-in-One products to work with analog telephoneservices. These products might experience some difficulties whenconnected to phone lines with digital services. For best faxingresults, connect the product to an analog telephone service. To obtain digital services information or support, contact the telephone service provider or your system administrator. Solution five: Check the fax connections
