The solution was perfect - thanks, that took 15 minutes instead of hours. Our blockage was a safety pin, mangled.

ND - no drain. Mine JUST DID THAT an hour ago. Wouldn't unlock the door, wouldn't drain, it just hummed. I'm saving money for a trip to florida in two weeks, and I saw our family vacation going down in flames in a hurry. So, I read up, and got brave.

Have a mop and shop vac on hand and ready.

I unplugged it, then removed the access panel on back - two screws, phillips head.

You'll see a grey drain hose connected to a pump, and from the pump to the washer itself, a black hose. Both should have spring clamps on them. Just pinch and voila, they get loose, slide them aside and pull each hose, look for obstructions. Here's why you need the shop vac. All the water in the washer will come out those hoses.

Mine had no obstructions anywhere in either hose. So, I hooked the hoses back up, and tried again. The pump those hoses are hooked to just kept clicking, no drain.

I decided to get crazy and pulled the pump out since it sounded just like when something gets hung in our pool pump's impeller.

There are three bolts there. They take a 1/2" socket. There is a set of wires that plug into it. Unplug those, be careful not to let the end flop down into any water that gushed out earlier.

Still saw no obstructions, and so, I took the pump apart. Three phillips head screws are all that hold the two halves together.

When the pump came apart, out falls a grey Lego block. One of those really flat ones. It was chewed up and roughed up by the impeller. That was what had it hung up.

So. If you've gone so far as to have to take the pump apart, and hopefully found whatever is hung in it, just follow the directions in reverse and put it back together. Once all together and plugged back in (be sure you're not standing in water when you plug it in by the way!) you may want to run the load (or the empty washer if you've pulled all the soggy clothes out) on a rinse and spin only cycle, just to make sure it works.

If it doesn't? It may be time to call a service guy in.

By the way, I'm sending my husband a bill for a 300.00 service call. ;-) He was panicking and CERTAIN I wouldn't be able to fix it. Nyah.

i pulled mine apart, found a penny and it worked once but stopped again. The 2nd time, I removed the actual motor and lo-and-behold, one of my plastic toothpicks was stuck in there. I was ready to kill a kid and it was actually because of me, the mom!!! I'm the one to blame! Thanks for saving me LOTS of money!!! It took me LESS than 20 minutes, start to finish, to fix the issue!!!! My motor was located UNDER my washer but it was so easy to do! THANKS AGAIN!

Thank you so much for posting this. I was getting an "ND" error code and pulled the drainage tubes off & cleaned them and was still getting the code. Once I pulled the pump off there was a quarter wedged in the intake tube. Once I pulled it out everything seems to be working fine now. This saved me a lot of hassel and money by being able to do it myself and it was easy :) Thank you again!!

What does error code nd indicate?

Error code nd = Not Draining. Don't know what machine you have, but if you are in any way "handy" you'll manage it. Go for the simple solution first. Filter (usually lower left on the front) is it clear. Do you hear the drain pump going before the spin cycle. The motor that drives the pump is a very simple affair and can stick (or just not work, ever again) when sticking intermittently gives faults like, not going into spin cycle (sometimes), the door not being allowed to open or nd code. Either through the front or up from underneath gives access to the hoses from drum base to pump etc. Check there is no debris blocking any of them. The one from the drum base on some machines reduces in diameter a wee ways from the drum. Creates a nice place for a blockage. Have look on youtube it'll give you confidence, if you need it.
Hope this is of help,

"nd" code on my washer, after I moved residence what would cause that?

Nd = no drain. Either drain pump is clogged or defective. Too many suds can also cause this problem.

A "nd" code displayed,

How to fix a Samsung Washer nd washer error code. You can make this repair your self and in most cases without parts.
Let me explain what the nd on a Samsung washer control panel means exactly. The nd error code stands for No Drain.
When this washer error code comes up the washer will not spin either.

To fix this issue you will need to slide the unit forward to access the pump if there is no access panel on the lower front.
If the clean out access panel is on the lower front bail the water from the washer and twist the filter head counter-clockwise.
If the front panel does not have the access panel the washer will need to be slide forward.
With the washer pulled out the back access panel can be removed. With the panel removed, the drain pump will be visible.
Remove the two hoses on the pump followed by the two 7/16 bolts that mount the pump down. With the pump off, you can now remove the debris inside.

Put the washer back together and test for proper operation.
If the error code comes back this means that the pump is clogged again or the pump has failed and would need to be replaced

Amana front load washer error code "nd". Door is

Hello there and welcome to fixya
From what you're describing it sounds like the drain pump is blocked. The nd error code indicates "no drain". If the unit can't drain it won't spin. You're going to have to slide the washer out far enough to remove the rear panel; be careful not to damage the floor. Once you get the rear panel off you will see the pump. Be sure to have plenty of towels & a small container to catch water. I am sending you instructions from the service manual to remove and replace the pump. Another possibility is the drain line is blocked or something is stuck in the tub to pump hose.

Spin cycle (7min) starts, spin perfectly, try to let water go (doesn't work) then reset back to 7min... ND code does appear but not all the time

ND error code means no drain check the pump filter check the pump and check the drain line that goes from the oulet port coming out of the outter tub to the pump and also check the drain hose leaving the pump that goes out of your washer as well. If you have any further questions message me back I await your rely

Someone put some heavy things in it and it stopped mid-cycle. We removed the heavy objects, and then attempted to drain the leftover water by putting it on "rinse and spin." It never really...

The ND error code on a digital Neptune front load washer. The ND code means 'No Drain' and it is probably just something caught in the pump. Sometimes this is a early sign of the pump going out or a control board issue.

Error code nD, won't go into spin cycle

Is the Machine a FAV6800A or a FAV9800A?

Do you want to DIY the fix?

The nd error code = No Drain error code.

You could have drain line clog, an issue with the drain pump or a stuck pressure switch. Do you hear the machines drain pump turn on and pump out water before entering lnto the spin cycle? Is there water left in the tub with the nd error code? If you can provide feedback on the questions above I will help guide through the troubleshooting steps.

You will need the Service Manual to troubleshoot.

The FAV6800AW/FAV9800AW Service Manual for reference. Sears Parts Direct for reference.

Our washer wont spin fast and shuts off saying ND code. what does that mean

ND means that it is Not Draining. Does it make the same water-pump sounds that it used to make at that point in the cycle? In my machine, it sounds like a low-pitched loud hum when it's working.
It might be that your water pump needs replacing. If there is any strange sound (such as grinding) then there might be a coin or something stuck in the pump.
