Bernina 430 sewing/embroidery machineWhen trying to set up and embroidery project. It is ready to stitch out, sent from computer no problem. When I go to hit the start button on the sewing machine a picture comes up on the screen, it looks like a stair step with an arrow above it. Nothing is shown in the manual as to what this means.

The .exp format is a commercial format while .art is a BERNINA-specific embroidery format. Embroidery designs in .art format keep their fancy fill effects even after rescaling the designs whereas the effects may be lost when editing .exp format files on the machine.

I am the person who posted the solution about too much stabilizer. Unfortunately that did not solve the problem in the long term. I spoke with the Bernina dealer and found out that the sewing machine needed to be recalibrated. I found out how to do this from my user manual and the problem appears to be solved for now... hope that works for you
I figured out the solution for this issue. It all has to do with the threading. And I mean literally follow the instructions word for word. Most importantly is the Bobbin thread. make sure to thread the bobbin through the case eyelet.
