My DIR-628 router is no longer connecting. My comcast modem is fine. Beside the D-Link symbol,, there are 2 lights working. The first from the rright is the circle with a line though the top. The other id the 2.4 GHZ light witch sometimes blinks. I don't know whether to reinstall it or if there is something easier to try. I have a Mac.

Resetting router to factory defaults should fix this.
NOTE: Reseting the router to the factory defaults will delete any changes you have made to the router, including any security settings.
You will find reset button at back of router. Near power button. Press and hold the button for 10 secs.

Can't get internet to work with dir-615 router for more than a day or two at a time

If you have more than one device hooked up to the router, when the problem occurs try pinging another device. If you are able to then the router is working fine and most likely the modem is flaky and needs to be replaced. The modem supplies the internet connection, the router just applies NAT so that more than one device and use your public IP address. If this turns out to be the issue make sure you contact your ISP for any special instructions. For instances Comcast requires the MAC address located on the bottom or back of the modem in order for your connection to work, other ISP use proxy settings. Century Link has no requirements.

You haven't mentioned who is your Internet Service Provider (generally motorola modems are used by cable connections). After connecting the cables properly, you power cycle the modem and the router if this is a cable connection. However, if this is a DSL connection you better contact the ISP and fetch further information. Please contact me again if you need further information.

Plug your internet into the router then, the router to the computer. Go to your network settings and run the network setup. This will change the settings in windows to except the router into the network. You may have to restart the computer. This should give you internet access to your computer through your router.

Globe symbol won't turn green.

I was banging my head for 2 days with about 35 different configurations and finally tried the following and it worked just fine. Also, tried connecting 3 computers and they all connected with "NO" issues. Even connected wireless with "NO" issues. Now I am at 20mb download speed...J compared to AT&T 1.5mb download speed.

This is my DLINK model -> (DIR-601 Wireless N 150 Home Router Wireless router)

1. Reset your Comcast Surfboard Cable Modem by unplugging it for 5 minutes.

2. Then reset your DLINK Router to the manufactures default settings. Then Unplug DLINK Router for 1 minute then plug it back in (Just plug your cat5 cable into port 1 and connect it to your computer) there should not be anything else plugged into the DLINK Router at the time you make the changes. Just 1 computer can be connected.

3. Went into the DLINK configuration 192.168.0.1 and changed the PPPOE setting that I was using for my AT&T Modem to Dynamic IP (DHCP). Once you make the changes save them and then unplug your DLINK Router it's off.

4. Turn on Comcast Surfboard Cable Modem and wait until all lights are on. Now plug in a cat5 cable from the Surfboard Comcast modem (NOT A CROSSOVER CABLE LIKE THE CD INDICATES) to the INTERNET port of your DLINK Router. Now turn on your DLINK router.

5. Then turn on your computers or restart them and it will pick up IP Addresses from your DLINK Router
