Drivers would be a fair guess. Have you updated macOS to latest versions? If so, I would try JBL's suggestion.

I'm not sure about this, because I have an internal CD/DVD in my macbook. But this can be a driver issue. Do you have an Apple CD drive, or an universal USB CD drive? The last one could be very tricky, because the computer needs special drivers, so it can recognise the external drive.

According to the LG SUPPORT (click here) website, this model is compatible with Windows only. Unless Apple has a driver for it (unlikely) it will not work with Apple macbooks.

I bought two extra remotes for my dtt 901. I can't remember where i got it, so google dtt 901 remote. Someone sells them. If you see any new dtt 901 boxes, let me know as one of mine just crapped out.

What code, I do not understand your problem. Please go into more detail. I have two Zenith DTT 901 converter boxes, each is on a 15" Sony TV. They work perfectly after I corrected a wrong setting on the menu.

Hello, you can test your parts using your Apple Hardware Test. But you can also see if the system profiler sees it, by going in the apple menu, about this mac, more info. The best test to do is connecting a device on it though.

I don't think there's an actual LG DTT 901. They make the digital converter boxes for Zenith (DTT 901) and Insignia (NS-DXA1-APT). Look at this chart:
