The screen displays is dark/ dim because there is no backlight.
There
are two parts responsible for lighting the display. First is the CCFL
(Cold Cathode Florecent Lamp), which is the back light and the second
is the Inverter board, which provides high voltage to the CCFL. Either
of the parts can be faulty or in some rare cases both. In most of such
cases that I received for repair, it was Invertor. Inspect
the Invertor for any apparant physical damages (burnt coil or circuit
components etc). Inverter can be checked by disconnecting the present
CCFL and connecting a fresh/ working CCFL (Backlight) before actually
removing the CCFL as it is difficult and unnecessary to take it out if
its not the fault.
I SUGGEST THAT YOU SEEK PROFESSIONAL ASSISTANCE FROM AUTHORISED
SERVICE/ REPAIR CENTER FOR REPLACEMENT OF CCFL OR INVERTER.
Hope it helps! Good Luck!
