The screen displays is dark/ dim because there is no backlight.
There are two parts responsible for lighting the display. First is the CCFL (Cold Cathode Florecent Lamp), which is the back light and the second is the Inverter board, which provides high voltage to the CCFL. Either of the parts can be faulty or in some rare cases both.
In most of such cases that I received for repair, it was Invertor. Inspect the Invertor for any apparant physical damages (burnt coil or circuit components etc). Inverter can be checked by disconnecting the present CCFL and connecting a fresh/ working CCFL (Backlight) before actually removing the CCFL as it is difficult and unnecessary to take it out if its not the fault.

I SUGGEST THAT YOU SEEK PROFESSIONAL ASSISTANCE FROM AUTHORISED SERVICE/ REPAIR CENTER FOR REPLACEMENT OF CCFL OR INVERTER.

Hope it helps! Good Luck!

Lg flatscreen monitor

If your LCD TV or monitor has stopped working, or is displaying one of the following symptoms, then it's a candidate for some new capacitors
- Flickering screen
- Screen image disappears after several seconds
- Dim screen
- Slow start
- Power LED on, but no picture
- Unusual colors and/or lines
The primary cause of LCD TV and monitor failure is caused by faulty capacitors. You can examine the capacitors in your LCD TV or monitor and actually see if they are bad.
If they appear bulged on top, then they need to be replaced.
New capacitors will solve a host of problems in LCD monitors and TV's and will extend the life of your monitor or TV by several years.
Take it to a repair shop.

Switch to alternate moniter using keys. original moniter is broken

Fn+F7 Toggles the display between the computer screen (LCD), a connected external display, and both the LCD and an
external display.
Select one display when playing a DVD. Connect the cable(s) before you turn on the computer; otherwise, Fn+F7 will not
work. You cannot use the Fn+F7 function to switch between the LCD and an external display once a DVD is inserted into
the optical drive.

Screen turns on and odd

If the TV part works normal then you are probably trying to use a resolution and or refresh rate the monitor cannot handle. You want to be on 1024x768 max and 60hz refresh. You can try starting the computer in safe mode to test.
