Webcam not detected on msi cx640

Take your Bezel off and make sure cam is plugged in or that the wire is not broken. If not then replace the camera, usually only one small screw.

How to put a camera on it

If it's a quick release tripod you need to remove the quick release plate (Usually a release lever to the side of the top of the tripod) and then fasten the plate securely to the camera and then the plate to the tripod. Older non-quick-release tripods have a knurled screw located below the flat area where the camera is attached. If the screw is missing, get a relacement from your local hardware store - 1/4" -20. (Find a way to keep the new one from getting lost.)

Missing top plate that fits in on top of tripod with the screw that goes into camera model TH 770.

Try www.TripodQuickRelease.com for that part. There is listed the widest selection of quick releases and support more brands than any other web site I've seen. Because your tripod is not supported by the manufacturer; parts lists and pars are not available, you should measure the opening and see what other brand quick releases will work paying attention to the shape and locking mechanism. Otherwise just get another tripod.

I bought a used camera tripod that does not fit my camera

Your tripod is a K-Mart brand item and it will fit any camera but it's clearly missing the quick-release foot which most tripods have these days. This part screws to the bottom of the camera and enables the camera to be quickly attached and removed from the tripod.

Unfortunately there is no standard foot shared between manufacturers and most tripod manufacturers don't even have a standard design foot which fits all models in their range.

You can still order a replacement foot from:-

http://tripodquickrelease.com/Focal_Quick_Releases.htm

But at US$18.99 it may be cheaper to buy a new tripod!

I hope that you appreciate the time which I've taken to research and answer your question and ask only that you return the favour by rating my answer.

SLIK 512QF tripod

Carole31,
I have the same tripod, and the screw shown in the photo you posted is to lock down the rotation of the tripod's head, i.e., what a video camera uses to pan (horizontally) across a scene. The large knob is used for the same in the vertical direction (up and down motion).
