Hello

Check the PS3's vents or its location if the power button alternately flashing red and green. This means it is running hot. Shut it off and wait for it to cool down.

Shut down the system if the power button flashes red and fails to operate. This means it has overheated and has reached a critical phase. Move it to another location where the vents are not blocked and it isn't in an enclosed area. Don't restart it until it cools down.

Open your PS3's disc tray and spray the inside of the machine with some compressed air, which comes either in a can or in a squeeze ball. This air will help remove any larger particles of dust or dirt that may have accumulated on the machine's lens.

Insert the cleaning CD into the disc tray and close it. These CDs often have no data on them and instead have a small brush along the bottom that cleans the laser as it spins over it.

Follow any on-screen instructions or paper instructions that may have been included with your lens-cleaning CD until the laser has been successfully cleaned, and then remove the CD.

Restore the PS3 to its default settings if the PS3 isn't able to read any discs. Go to "Settings," and then "System Settings." Under "System Settings," select "Restore Default Settings" and press the "X" button on your controller to restore the settings. Once the operation has been completed, the initial setup screen will appear.

Check to see whether the machine will load games or DVDs properly. If it still doesn't, you may have an internal hardware issue that requires sending your machine to Sony for professional repairs.

My PS3 has a major fault and I don't know what is causing it

Mark, as much as I'd love to talk up about the PS3 system, I have heard of a major concern. With the latest iteration of the SONY PS3 system, affectionately named "Super Slim", it's no secret that SONY cut some corners in the production of the new system. Mainly, the redesign eliminated the blue-ray disk drive mechanism from all previous versions of the PS3, resulting in a very PS1 like configuration. (Very simple opening door). In doing so, the cost of manufacturing was cut almost in half. From my personal experiences with the "Slim" and "Super Slime" I can tell you there are marked differences in performance. The software is solid, but when I play COD Advanced Warfare on my "Slim" I notice the game plays smoother than the "SS", and the disk spins much faster and louder than the "Slim". If I had to guess, and this is from several systems, the Blue-ray drive is spinning up, then causing the cpu to overheat(Another much blogged problem with the "SS"), resulting in a diode failure that shuts down the system. If it's still under warranty, take it back for a new one. If not, you're going to have to send it in for and "Out-of-Warranty" service that may be pricey. God luck, and hope this helps.

My ps3 wont recognise a certain game

Hmm. May be because the disc is scratched? Not sure what it would be otherwise, if other games work just fine.

I have an issue with my ps3 slim 250 gb, when i insert a disc into the system it does not load the first time, it makes an odd clicking ejeccted disc sound and will not load. I have to eject and reinsert...

Sounds like you have an issue with the blu ray drive itself. This is actually a more common problem with PS3 than many people know. Do not try to fix this yourself as it will void you warranty. Contact Sony as it should still be under warranty and you will need to ship it away and get it fixed.

Ps3 slim 129 gb will mot eject mw2 it makes the beebing noise and the another weird noise that sounds like it is stuck and the doesnt work the games does eject from the main menu but it is still in the ps3

1. First shut down the system by flipping the power switch in the back off.
2. Hold down the eject disc button.
3. While still holding down the eject button, flip the power switch to turn back on your PS3.
4. When the green light comes on, wait a few seconds then tap the eject button a couple times. The fan will run on full power and the disc will eject.

System doesn't read disc when inserted

this can be due to three reasons
first you should know that the ps3 have certain discs they read depending on the region of your ps3. for example a european 3 may read discs with any region code depending on which region it was originally manufactured for.
you should also put in mind that you can check for the region of your ps3 by connecting it to the internet and going to online help under the web in the XMB or going to the carton of your console and looking at the lower right corner(a semi-globe with a number written above, also you can check the region of your disc by looking at the back of your ps3 disc casing(on the side you have playstation 3 written in full,it is usually like a globe sign with a number)
now, the problem might be one of the following and their solutions are given under
1.....you are probably trying to play a disc with a region code note compatible with your ps3 console system, make sure they match or they are compatible and if not this could be the cause but if they match, try the disc on another system and another disc on your system(this would help you narrow down to know if your console or disc is bad)
2....if it still doesnt work, your console lens is probably bad and it is best adviced that you send it to a repairer or back to sony(if you can)because the lens is packed in a very difficult way that any mistake could damage it permanently and as this could void your warranty.hope this helped you?
