Question about Nextar M3 Car GPS Receiver

I'm trying to get my gps updated ist a nextar M3-06 model why cant I get that updated for free ? I used it for 6 months then I got a msg that it needed to be updated. Do you know a web site that I can get updated for free?

You cant get it updated for free, you will have to pay to update it.

To update the GPS you must go to the Nextar factory support site at this link http://www.nextar.com/frontend/gps_navigation_systems.asp then select your particular model from the drop down list. How do i get map updates

Hi,
Some models will allow free updates for up to six months from purchase. Even so, you can update your Nextar GPS maps by checking into here:
http://www.nextar.com/frontend/gps_navigation_systems.asp

They will ask you to register your unit if you haven't done so previously. Thanks, Bill

Update for nextar gps

To update the existing map for your Nextar product, please contact Nextar to find out if any new map information has become available. The products are usually pre-loaded with USA/Canada maps, depending on the model.
OR
Go to Nextar.com and select your model.

How do you update nextar x4-t if the this model is not on the list to choose from to be updated?

Well, that is going to be near impossible.

You can TRY, with no guarantee, to find out what map company makes the maps for your Nextar. It's either IntelliNab or Odyssey.

Then you would have to load new map data direct from those map companies onto your SD card and pray it works.

From experience it usually ends up crashing the GPS. If Nextar doesn't offer an update, then you're probably out of luck.

You have to plug in the GPS to your computer and if there is an update file from www.nextar.com's support area, then you run the executable file and will update the firmware on the unit. There are no new maps. If you can't find your model on Nextar's site, you'll have to contact them - but normally, no model number listed means no new updates. Nextar's support is pretty flaky right now. They're not as big a company as TomTom or Magellan. And they do not make their own maps - they get them from another company called Navteq.

Unfortunately Nextar GPS systems come with only USA/Canada or UKmaps , maps for other regions are not available, and there are also not much upgrade.
Maps from third party usually do not work on this unit.
The only way to know if a download is available is simply calling them at their toll free numbers, they do not make available online downloads:

The good thing is that upgrades and map are both free, while on other models you have to pay for maps.

Give them a call to unlock a download to latest map.
