I get this some times when testing consoles.
I have to select manual tuning.
When on the the channel select menu and there should be an option for "fine tuning" which allows you slightly adjust your TV to see of the signal is a little out of phase.

Again it may be the lead (especially the longer ones), look for any kinks in the lead,

I inherited an old Sony Trinatron TV it's working fine & have just bought and LG VCR to replace a VCR that broke which also works fine. The problem is in tuning the VCR into TV. I automatically tuned...

Depending on where you live you might have to go buy an HD antenna and scan for channels and hope you can get a PBS station or something to get you off of zero and then go into the menu and manually program a channel you can use to tune your VCR maybe that might do the trick

DVD records a black screen if tv is on standby.

You have tuned the dvd recorders channels? dont forget a recorder dvd/hd/vcr is actually a tv set without its own screen and to record from channels you need to have its on board channels tuned in... what you have been probably doing is using a function on many recorders that records direct tv... what this means is it records the feed back signal through the scart lead of what ever channel your tv is tuned to at the time that is why no tv on = no signal

Hi I bought a goodmans dual format dvd recorder GDVDR319, tuned in fine, plays fine etc but the picture is pink. Instructions say check the video output but no idea what that means. Thanks

If your normal TV pictures are ok then carefully check your scart plugs are pushed right home and fitting squarely at the TV end and the DVD end.

Vason 10.4 inch portable tv tuning problem

I returned my original TV/DVD to the suppliers who then sent me a new one.
I experienced exactly the same tuning problem with the new TV.
The only way I could tune it, was by using the fine tune facility to find and store the missing stations. This took a lot of time and continuous button pushing, so patience is essential.
Once found and stored, the previously missing channels are perfect.
It would appear that the DVD player doesn't like DVD- recordings from my home recorder. If they are re-coded they work.
Anything recorded on DVD+ is fine.
In my opinion this is a good unit let down by a couple of niggling faults.

SAMSUNG LCD WONT TUNE INTO NORMAL TV STATIONS

You need to have a licensed antenna repairer out to fix your antenna. Just because your old tv is receiving enough signal to JUST get a picture doesn't mean your new tv will, A new tv doesn't mean you will get a perfect picture if your antenna is dodgy
