Open internet Explorer browser
In web address bar on top type 192.168.0.1 and Press Enter
now it will ask you for user name and password
user name is admin and leave the password blank and click ok
Now you will get your D-Link router page
Click on setup on top and then click on wireless settings on left hand side
now here you will have your router wireless page will open

here you will see you network name listed and leave that
below you will have security mode
choose wpa-psk as you can see in that link as well
below on bottom it ask for Pre-Shared Key and type here any security key you like but minimum 8 characters and then click save settings on top of the page.
Now you have to connect to your wireless network name and now it will as you for security key which you just typed in your d-link router page the Pre-shared key.
To make your network secure, you need to first access routers page. To do that, open Internet Explorer and type this 192.168.0.1 and press enter. You will see login screen which will ask you to enter username and password. I am assuming you never set one, so password should be blank. On the router page, click on Wireless Setup. On that page, scroll down and you will see wireless network name. Enter the name you want for you WIFI. Check the button "Manual assign network key" also check use WPA encryption instead of WEP which will make your wireless more secure. On the next page, it will ask you to enter a WPA key (which is your wireless password). and click on Save. Your router will reboot. Thats it.
Now, as you have change the name of your wireless and set a password, you need to update the same in devices connected with your router. Say, you gotta laptop connected with your router wirelessly, you need to configure wireless on it again. To do that, search the wireless network, select your network, enter the password and thats it.

When asked for username use admin and password leave it empty
then goto
SETUP -> WIRELESS SETUP -> MANUAL WIRELESS CONNECTION SETUP ->
WIRELESS SECURITY MODE and select "Enable WPA > WPA -> WPA Key -> create your own password and save now if you want to access the Wireless connection you will have to enter the WPA key you just created.
