Motorola router & dynex router

Ok..this is the problem..
A week ago, I bought a new laptop and also bought a router(dynex) and i installed the router myself following the instructions. And i also have a computer that is connected to the modem. The wireless worked great and also the modem..after 3 days the internet went off. I thought that the system went down and i called At&t and they told me that the system was ok, that there must be something wrong with the modem. The assistant tried to helped me, but there was no answer for the problem. The Internet light is not on. But the ethernet and DSL are. And i dont have internet on my computer and i also dont haave wireless. And i don't know what to do so i can internet again. What should i do?

well depends on if you want to hookup wirelessly with one or not. If the modem has a USB connection as well as ethernet, then you can hook up 1 computer to usb and 1 to ethernet with no problems. If you do want a wireless hookup then yes, you need a wireless router. I would just go with a router because of the convenience of being able to go wireless if you decide to. I would suggest a Linksys WRT-54GL with a 3rd party firmware (DD,-WRT, Tomato, etc.) Hope this helps.

SOURCE: cable modem + dlink router

Your modem needs to be rebooted in order for your router to pull an IP from the modem. To do this, look for a little hole in the back of your modem and use a pen to push the button. Wait for the reboot to finish and then try again in about 20 seconds.

SOURCE: wireless routers

Just plug the cable modem ethernet into the input to your router and you will be fine. Just remember, if you decide you want to make any changes to your router settings through your browser, make sure you hook up an ethernet line from your laptop to the router before making any changes. The reason for this is if you make a change in security settings on your router while wireless, the router will reboot and if your laptop did have the settings changed in it, you can be locked out.
Not that you can't get back in, but it is a pain to have to do.

User admin, password admin, do not work on the Dynex router I just bought. These are specified in the manual, as well as the address ( which seems to be correct. What other user/password values...

If this router is brand new and has not yet been configured, try using "admin" (without the quotes) for the username, and leave the password field blank. Press the "OK" button; you should be directed to a welcome screen. From there, click "Run Wizard" and you should be taken to a screen prompting you to create a new password for the router.

Bought a new computer and trying to install my 4-port wired router and when I go to http: it tells me to type in admin for username and leave the password blank but when I do it asks me to type...

The Dynex manual for this router says the default address of the the router is and both the username and password should be admin. If you are connecting to, you might be reaching some other router connected to your network, or the Dynex settings have been changed. You can restore default factory setiings by resetting the router. Use a straightened-out paper clip to press the recessed RESET button on the rear panel. Hold it until the System LED flashes three times, then release the button. The router will reboot and factory default settings will be back.

When I plug in the usb for Dynex Keyboard, it doesn't work.

Sounds like you've got a bad keyboard.

You should contact Dynex direct for in-warranty replacement.
