There probably is a pin under the float may be clogged. Take it a part disassemble let it all set in carb cleaner, and then put new gas in it with fuel stabilizer in it.

If it is B&S he spring is to hold up the plastic float housing to keep a tight seal to base of carb. Sits in the center of the bottom of the plastic piece and the bottom of the bowl.

Generator Won't start

Gap the plug at .030 What is most likely the main problem is whatever gas sat in the carb. Even with fresh gas there will be some old gas still in the float bowl. You may be able to drain the bowl and be OK but I have a feeling that the carb will need to come off and be disassembled and cleaned properly. You can try spraying carb cleaner (I dislike starting fluid as it is too volatile and carb cleaner does just as well in this instance) into the carb/intake. Remove the air filter, open the choke, and spray the carb cleaner in through that way if possible. You can actually keep an engine running by spraying with short bursts. Even by just spraying once you should be able to get the engine to start. If it does start but then will not stay running without spraying more into the engine then it is a carb problem.

I have a coleman 6250 generator, only runs when i spray fuel into the carb, it about a year old. With a B&S engine

Old gas has probably gummed up the works. You have to store these with an empty tank to avoid this in the future. Using a fuel stabilizer helps too. To fix it, remove all of the old gas. Make sure the fuel cutoff valve is open (it only turns 1/4 turn). If it has a fuel filter replace it. Put in just a little fresh gas in the tank with a bit of carb cleaner. If it still won't run, remove the carburetor bowl and you will see a donut shaped float that operates a valve. Using carb cleaner, clean that valve, and clean the needle valve in the middle of the bowl. Good luck.

Spark but no fuel . coleman Powermate 6250

Check the oil level. The protection on low oil level may have stopped it.

I have a coleman powermate 6250 generator it get gas and spark and oil is fine but wont start

Lets see, Do you have any ether or old school lighter fluid? If you use ether spray a little into the air intake just before you pull the cord for a start, if it starts you have a carb problem. Same for the lighter fluid, remove the spark plug and squirt a small amount down in the cylinder, again if it starts you have a carb, probelm. Take the carb. off the engine take note of the rods and springs, take a picture get it in good focus so you can put it back together. Take the fuel bowl off the bottom of the carb and clean the jets and all see if that will help.

A coleman generator 6875 won't start please give

Dump ALL old fuel out of tank, you might have got a clog in the fuel line, carburator, fuel valve. Remove carb bottom Sediment bowl then spray Carb cleaner thru the gas inlet AT the carb 3-4 secs CAUTION: KEEP YOUR HEAD BACK.. that cleaner hurts if you get it in your eyes... and NEVER SPRAY A HOT ENGINE (np with yours tho no start) Refill tank with NEW fuel (or strained at least if emergency remote repair) Place a suitable catch container over gas inlet line to carb (at carb) open fuel valve chk for fuel FLOWING (no dripping) into container. replace fuel line to carb start as normal
if not firing still chk that spark plug, might need cleaning now that rest is ok.

Coleman Powermate 6250 generator - shut off generator at 11pm after v4 hours normal use. At 5am, wouldn't start, pull rope wouldn't move to start. A few hours later while draining oil found mostly gas...

the usual reason is a stuck float in your carburator , can be caused by dirt/rust etc , remove carb bowl and clean , there is also a very small needle valve which is attached to this float ( metering needle ) these can leak.
if all else fails always turn off the fuel supply to the generator whilst not in use

Coleman 6250 generator runs rough

Fresh fuel? Does carburetor have adjustable jets? Turn the high speed jet (at bottom of float bowl) about 1/4 to1/2 CCW (looking at bottom of bowl). If no improvement, carburetor should be torn apart and cleaned. This also applies if there are no adjustable jets. Is there a fuel filter anywhere?

My troy-Bilt 5550 watt generator will not start

First drain the fuel bowl. Any old fuel in there will keep it from starting. Fuel stabilizer is not what it's it cracked up to be. I've worked for 6yrs at a rental yard and had no luck with any fuel stabilizer, the fuel still went bad. If after you drain the fuel bowl it still will not start, you will need to clean the carb. Remove the carb and spray carb cleaner through all the accessible passages. If this does not do it, you will need to replace the carb. For long term storage I highly recommend draining all the fuel and filling just the carb with fuel stabilizer to keep gaskets moist. Then drain the carb when you take it out of storage.

Coleman Powermate 6250 generator only runs with Choke on? pull

Cbronson
how old was the fuel in the tank and carb bowl? This could have built up varnish and make the float heavier
Another issue that my customers bring in are 4 stroke generators that have 2 stroke fuel put in tank.
