Question about Amana ABB2227DE Bottom Freezer Refrigerator

2 Answers

Refrigerator is actually an ARB2217 with warm refrigerator/cold freezer

Our fridge is about 5 years old and in the past few days we've noticed that the top refrigerator portion is not very cold, no matter where we set the temperature dial. The freezer, though, seems fine and normal. I've read a bit online and tried to see that the baffles were not blocked (I don't think they are - we've emptied a fair amount of stuff out of the unit with not change in temp) or maybe the defrost timer isn't working. There does seem to be a little bit of frost at the very back of the freezer compartment, behind the pull-out drawer, but I can't tell what's normal. We've recently had a service call out to look at an occasional (large) leak from the ice maker. He replaced the valve for the icemaker, but it still seems to leak anyway. We're scheduling another service call, but I'm not optimistic that they're getting to the root of the problem and actually may have made it worse.

Thoughts?

Thanks,
Kurt

I had a Freezer... recommend to change the coils or make another tubing that would replace the leaking area, then to replace the freon or coolant... then they have to make sure that they would place in the right amount of coolant or else the freezer won't work perfectly.

Samsung RL38SCSW Fridge Freezer not Cooling

Sounds like an air leak around a door seal or the ice maker chute door is open causing frost buildup on evaporator and everything inside the freezer. You also may have a defrost drain line blockage

Drain is possibly blocked inside freezer that allows water to escape to the pan below the refrigerator. You will need to remove frozen items and remove the panel that covers the evaporator to get to it.

Fridge portion doesn't get cold

The defrost circuit is not working, there are usually 3 things that normally go bad, defrost timer, defrost heater, and thermal switch. Would have serviceman check it out as cooling fins on coils will cut you like a razor.

Issue with Kenmore Refrigerator/Freezer

ok,1st check on fridge side toward upper back of the top and feel for air coming thru, and there is another one down possibly behind crisper .I had this same deal. Had to do total defrost,, put food in cooler,, theres two blower fans in these types of fridges,,one in the bottom back,, and one in the back of the frezzer,, I used an old hair dryer and let it blow warm to top interior of frezzer,, careful not to let any cords hang/drop in any water!!,ok once done dry out as much water as possible, turn fridge on set both controls to 4,when fridge kicks on do the feel test,, you may need to close the frezzer door, air should be felt near top inside of fridge,if so than shut fridge side and feel inside frezzer near bottom and air should be felt,, side-by-side need to circulate air from frezzer to fridge, then back to frezzer

Why are only drawers in fridge cold & not making ice?

Contact a professional. Sounds like either your damper door is not operating correctly and not letting enough cool air from the freezer enter, or there is an air leak that is making ice form .

Fridge too cold!

don't forget that just turning down your fridge temp dose not mean your problem might be over yet. the freezer setting may also be too high & that will affect your fridge temp as well. i set both my control settings to around 50% of what is on the scale & that works perfect for my 7 yr old fridge. also, very important, is make sure the freezer portion is going through it's full defrost cycles, or it will freeze the upper portion inside the fridge. you should not have any frost build up in your fridge, nor should you have any in your freezer. that's why they call them FROST FREE. try the slow temp decrease over a period of a few days & hopefully that will work for you. good luck.

Fridge and Freezer losing cooling

we bought a f&p fridge freezer and in summer noticed it wasn't cooling and the freezer wasn't freezing, when the service guy came out he noticed our ducted air con was blowing onto the fridge, once we had redirected the air con outlet the fridge started working as normal, apparently f&p's work on air being convected around the cabinet of the fridge and air blowing on the fridge can effect the temperature of the convected air. hope this helps you or someone
