As you are looking down at the base of the machine (viewing from the front) you will notice a yellow button on the right side just inside of the the wheel area. push up the button to release the casing that holds the hepa filter and the spongy filter. You can see a diagram on your machine which shows this process. After you take the casing from the machine, the round housing which houses the 2 filters will come out of this casing as you pull it off. You can grab the spongy filter and pull it our of the casing. Rinse both filters as shown in diagrams on the side of the casing. Do not use soapy water, just warm water and squeeze out the spongy filter after each new soaking. Let the filters dry for 12 hours and then replace in your unit and enjoy the refurbished air movement. It does suggest that you clean these filters every 6 months.

How to clean the filter

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.

DC28 has two washable filters engineered to last the lifetime of the machine in normal use. These should be washed at least once every 3-6 months as shown in the video below. Use cold water without detergent, and allow at least 24 hours for both filters to dry completely before replacing them in the machine.

I hope this helps. If you'd like further guidance you're welcome to give the Dyson Customer Helpline a call on 1-866-693-9766 (US), or 1-877-397-6622 (CA).

How many filters does a dc08 have?

2 the motor filter which is washable and the lifetime hepa filter that you bnever have to change.
Here are a few links to Dyson for you. if you remove the bin and cyclone top assembly (as if you were going to empty it) you should see on the body of the machine a small tab on the top of the body in between the 2 wheels. Simply lift this tab and you should find the filter. It will be a two part filter with a blue sponge and yellow casing.

For full details visit www.dyson.co.uk/support. Select Using your Dyson, or How to wash my filter from the home page, pick your Dyson vacuum cleaner and you will be able to view a step by step guide on how to find the filter and how to wash it.

There is also a post filter which is locate underneath a disc which is under the clear bin, however this filter should never need to be replaced as it should last the lifetime of the machine and it does not need to be cleaned.

I hope that this information is useful to you. If it is a vote with the thumbs up is greatly appreciated.

How many filters does a dyson dc07 have

Hi there, the DC07 has 2 filters. A pre motor washable filter and a post motor filter which will be either a simple pad (like thick cloth) or a Hepa filter (about and inch thick with a plastic housing). The post motor filter should not be washed but the pre motor filter can. As a technician I would recommend replacing every couple of years for best running of your vacuum. The post motor filter is under the clear bin, you can lever the cover off with a small flat blade screwdriver. The washable filter is to the right of the post motor filter inside a removable housing.

Does my Dyson Animal vacuum have a hepa filter?

The HEPA filter is not a cleanable item. The pre-motor filter is the washable one.

Keeps shutting off

You cant clean the HEPA filter.. only the blue washable pre filter.

Sounds like the motor is dead or atleast on its way out.

If you visit http://www.sparesaver.com/help-and-support/dyson-section/dyson-technical-advice-450/ they have alot of info on repairing dyson cleaners AND they sell the parts, cheapest ive seen online.

Hope that helps

Dyson DC07 main filter can it be removed to clean?

Yes, remove the dust bin and set it aside. Using a small screw driver gently pry on the lid that the dust bin sits on. you'll see little holes to insert a screw driver and pry back on the lid. Start on one side and pry at the three points to insert a screw driver and then remove the lid and replace the HEPA filter with a new one from EBay, local vacuum store, Dyson direct, etc. That filter is not washable.

My DC08 dyson doesn't seem to have the suction it used to have, is there anything I can do to get it back

Poor suction is almost always caused by a blockage of some kind. You need to check all the pipes and hose, and remove any obstruction. You also need to check the filters - particularly the washable filter - and make sure they're clean. If you wash the washable filter, it's vital that you follow the instructions about drying it - if you use it when it's even slightly damp it can clog badly. If in doubt, get a new filter.

Noisey DC07 Bagless Upright Cyclonic Vacuum; lack of suction...

Hi there it's SmartAlec from NelsonVacuums.com.au here. It is very likely you have a problem in the radix assembly or the filter is actually worn out. Basically to test either simply remove one then turn it on to test. If it runs better with out the filter (washable is most likely culprit) simply purchase a new one. If it is the radix assembly that is the problem it is possible to clean inside the little tubes by taking off the top and literally clearing dirt and fluff out with the help of a coat hanger. Alternatively a new one can be purchased. If you are in Australia or New Zealand I can help you with either part. Just put in a request via the email link n our website. Hope this helps regards Alec

Filter doesn't look clean after rinsing

It could well be that your Dyson is blocked elsewhere. Check the pipes, especially the feeder channels and the air way inspection channels on the Dyson as well as the main dirt channel after the rolling brush bar. Also brush clean the shrouds on the inner cyclones as these get notoriously clogged.
If the filter is washable it wont come up white like new unless you try a stain detergent like a pre stain remover. It would have to be heavily diluted as water is really the only way of cleaning a Dyson filter, but it also has to be of the washable type; Dyson produce a few filters, but some are not washable. EBay usually have good cheap replacements available but I'd check the first points first of all before filter replacement.
