Question about Oreck XL Ultra Bagged Upright Vacuum
When I sweep the Oreck appears to be picking up dirt, but within 2 or 3 minutes it spits the dirt back onto my carpet.I have a new bag in the sweeper and it is correctly installed. My husband removed the tube in back and it was free of fany dirt, . What's wrong? and how do we fix it?

If it is only 2 months old, then it is under warranty, take it in for warranty repair. There may be a circuit breaker on it, usually on the back at the bottom, it there is, push it to see if it has tripped.

Can I get a wiring diagram of the handle on an Oreck XL 2.
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. Oreck XL Ultra Bagged Upright Vacuum. The best place to get an owner’s manual is from the Oreck Factory of which I will supply for you listed below or you can download the owner’s manual from the Oreck Website. . I would check with your local Oreck dealer or vacuum dealer in your area to see what is going on. This is most unusual for this to happen. So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.

SOURCE: vacuum not picking up dirt
The neck in your power head is likely clogged. Disconnect from the wand and look inside. Also check the wand.Since you have suction on the bare floor the hose is likely not blocked.

Flip the head over and clean the metal pieces on either side if the head. When they get dirty, the tend to stick to the floor.

It might be that the beater brush is spinning when you tip it up to look at it but slight pressure of it contacting the floor is enough to stop it.
If it were my machine I would remove the beater brush and clean it as best I could, paying particular attention to the end pieces on the brush that hold it in place. A little WD40 between the end pieces and some twisting to be sure it worked in well.
I would then reassemble with a new belt being sure it is on correctly so it turns the brush in the proper direction.
That is about the least expensive thing(s) you can do at this point before going further. I have one more potential cause, but it is best to check these first.
Please let me know how you make out.
