How to repair television with horizontal lines

THIS TV SHOULD STILL BE UNDER WARRANTY if you bought it new. Take it back and get it replaced.

It's most likely a fault in the panel itself or the T-Con (timing and control) board.

Left side of screen is dark

When you say the screen is dark, do you mean that the picture is still faintly visible or is the left side black with a sharp edge between the black and the visible picture?

If the screen is dark with a faintly visible picture then you have a faulty backlight. This could be due to the inverter board, which can be repaired or replaced, or it could be the CCFL tube which is a bit harder to replace.
If the left side is completely black with a sharp edge then the LCD itself is faulty and may require replacing.

In any case, any of the problems listed above should only be repaired by a competant electronics engineer.

I have the exact think happening on my Samsung LN46A530 and it has just been 2 years since I bought it. There better be a cheap fix for this because a $2,000 product has to last a lot longer than 2 years.

Black line running horizontally across TV screen

A line on an LCD, either horizontal or vertical usually means the video driver board is defective or the screen is defective, does it show up as black even on a dark screen? That means a line of LCD "shutter"s is not working and there is a problem that cant be fixed by a reboot or channel change. Bummer.

Pictur

I have had a similar problem. Pictureres look like they are taken through a Venetial blind with white horizontal bands though I did get one with dark banding. It appears to have something to do with light levels. I took a few pics in a dark area with no flash and now it is working again...until it quits working again. Perhaps it is something to do with light level calibration? Whatever it is the problem is internal. If you are still under warranty, I highly recommend taking your camera in for repairs/replacement. Ours started acting up just after the warranty expired so no love for us.
