DMT2420s sounds like i have the same problem as described here. the display would start to blink then goes out. the backlight is still on but no dissplay and microwave would not work at all. i tried reseting the circuit breaker and that worked for about a day then it goes out again. now nothing works. what do you think the problem is? is this a common issue for this Dacor Model? regards, Tuan

That would be your waveguide cover. If damaged or discolored, the waveguide cover has been damaged by heat and must be replaced.

It protects your waveguide and magnetron from arcing due to grease and food particles.

The area of the waveguide behind the waveguide cover should be clean, and if rust or flaking is present it must be sanded, then repainted with high temperature appliance paint.

For Dacor model DMT2420S, the waveguide is part number 66345 and you can get it from The Pros here for $11.07 (subject to change).

The display board is bad, it may be part of the control PCB or it may be separate. Some are back lit and some are lit internally.

You can get that repaired for $39.95 in most cases (details here) or you can order a control / display unit here for a little over a hundred dollars.

You need to replace the bottom door switch, or repair its loose or broken mount.

SETTING THE CLOCK
When the oven is first plugged in, the display will flash ":0" and a tone will sound. If the AC power ever goes off, the display shows ":0" when the power comes back on.

1. Touch CLOCK pad.
This is a 12 hour clock system.

2. Touch CLOCK pad once more.
This is a 24hour clock system.
NOTE: This oven has multiple clock system. If you want 12 hour clock system, omit this step.

3. Enter the correct time of day by touching the numbers in sequence.

4. Touch CLOCK pad.
The display stops blinking, and the colon start blinking. If you selected 12 hour clock system, this digital clock allows you to set from 1:00 to 12:59. If you selected 24 hour clock system, this digital clock allows you to set from 0:00 to 23:59.

5. Touch STOP/CLEAR pad.

NOTE: If you attempt to enter an incorrect time, the time will not be set and a error signal tone will sound. Touch the CLOCK pad and re-enter the time.

Clean the contacts of the cable with 99% isoprophyl alcohol and reseat them.

Also see if moisture might be getting into the connections.

The fan could have an obstuction. I have heard of tech sheets getting into the fan and causing a vibration and vibrating sound.
