When connecting a MOTOR to a DC to AC inverter the clipping sound comes from the fact that a inverter produces a switching voltage (Square wave) not a sine wave, than the motor's winding acts as a transponder and emits a clipping sound.... always check the specifications to see if you can plug any kind of motorised device to the inverter... electric motors have a different load ratings than other electric/electronic devices due to the mechanical impact (if it turns freely or has restriction) it affects the power rating...

Making a humming noise

The HRS-10, HRS-8 and HRS-12 amplifiers are practically identical, and they share six small, weak electrolytic capacitors in the power supply board. They are located in pairs. The cheap, original capacitors dry out after several years, and cause the hum. Upgrading them to high quality (e.g., Panasonic) low-ESR capacitors will typically solve the hum, and will last longer than the originals used by Sunfire.

Black and decker electric hedge trimmer makes a loud noise, motor hums and blades won't work. Loaned it to friend. Big mistake.

thats a BIG 10-4.. GOOD BUDDY . loosen the bolts that clamp the blade together. NO DRINKING WHEN WORKING ON THE FINGER TRIMMER !!!.. after the bolts are lose try it again. it may just have a bent tooth.. if not you can't do any harm, just start taking it apart, take pictures,. so if it is something stupid wrong you can reassemble it.. make up a repair bill for 25.00 on you computer and give it to him

I bought a Sharp Carousel 1100 watt microwave about 8 months ago but now it makes a louder noise when it's on and it doesn't heat. Can I easily fix this myself or is this now trash?

A loud buzz, hum, or groan is usually a shorted high voltage rectifier diode, but a sound like gurgling into an empty coffee mug is one symptom of a failed magnetron.

Since it's less than a year old, it's fully under warranty and Sharp will fix it free.

You can contact Sharp at 1-800-BE-SHARP (1-800-237-4277) or visit them online to get it fixed.

We're happy to help you with free advice and we'd appreciate your thoughtful rating of our answer.

No. You will need typically 35-40 watts for a LCD monitor. 20 watt may not even run DVD's on your laptop. Look for something 80 watt or so.
