SOURCE: setting up a new hard disk and operating system on an Acer Power SC

There should be more than one disk, as the other will be drivers, all you need to do is press F2 or Del to get into your pc's bios settings and change the first boot device to your cd drive, insert your acer disc into the drive, then save the bios settings, restart the pc ,then, when prompted on screen to press enter to boot from cd; do so.

You should then follow instructions to set up windows on the 'C' drive as is default and it may need to reformat in NTFS.

SOURCE: Acer Power FH will not boot Windows XP Pro

Well your explanation was clear but your should've not ruled out the hardware issue. if both computer suffered the same problem at the same time the problem could be within the Desktop itself. I have experienced the same problem with my HP when I move to my new house after 5 years. What happend is that during transportation the vibration lossened up the parts inside your computer. So what I did was I reseated all the parts inside the desktop and reinstalled Windows XP. Till now I have never had any problems yet.

My acer Keeps shutting down Could it just be dirty or do need to upgrade the power supply

Overheating When the CPU overheats then it will shut down (i.e. thermal overload) and won't boot up again until it has cooled down. If this is the problem is not fixed then the CPU will eventually fail.
A faulty fan causes the problem or the fan and heat sink assembly are clogged with dust.
Check the CPU fan to see if it spins freely, if not replace the fan.
If the fan and heat sink is clogged with dust the remove the dust and make sure the vents are clear and dust free. Use a small brush and can of compressed air to do this.
