Officially Microsoft says that 32bit drivers are not supported on a 64bit system. Check hardware manufacture for updated drivers. Good luck.

if your computer came with a motherboard disc the sound drivers could be on it
click start control panel administrive tools computer management device manager sound video and game controllers could be a yellow question mark? right click to re-install drivers
click start control panel sounds and audio,volume,advanced,speakers make sure you have selected the
(((appropriate speakers))) also audio you will find 3 drop down lists make sure you have the correct settings there

the problem is that since u cleared off your hard drive you lost the drivers for the audio card so its not the speakers. you have to go to your computers manufacturer's website and go to help and support and get the driver for your system model's audio card if you tell me the model of your computer i will locste the driver for you and get you the direct link.
