Question about Dell OptiPlex GX150 SFF (GX150BLACK) PC Desktop

Dell OptiPlex GX150 won't do anything.

I have a Dell Optiplex GX150 and everytime when I turn it on, it just shows Dell and the model, but then I just see a white line in the left top of the screen and won't do anything. When I inserted another hard drive, the same thing happens. What can I do? Thanks.

Try going to the bios by pressing f2 or delete key on the keyboard at the dell logo.
if you are able to enter the system setup screen, reset the bios.
to reset the bios, press num lock, caps lock and scroll lock so that all 3 lights on the keyboard are on.
press alt + e and alt + f keys.
press esc twice
then select save changes and exit.

also try booting through the safe mode by hiiting f8 on the dell logo.

you can also try booting through the dell resource cd or win xp cd.

Quick look at info form DEll gx150 Dell Search All Dell com shows me your motherboard is useing 40 pin ATA interface. So you need to be sure the drive is set to "master" or "Slave" and plugged into the ribbon for the interface in correct order. Master is located at the end of cable, slave is in the middle of the ribbon. Drives also have jumping pins that need to be set for Master and slave. There is a difference from one manufacturer to another. But the info is on the drive itself most time. Look close at the label on the drive for the settings for slave mode.

My copmuter dell optiplex gx150 it fails to continue it shows a white little line on top that flash and never continue for hours

You probably have a dead hard drive, one simple way of testing this theory is to press F2 on your keyboard when the Dell logo appears to enter BIOS, look under IDE configuration or Boot order, if your primary is hard drive is not there, then it has finally met it's end.
Sorry, but that that computer had a very long life

How can i open dell pc optiplex gx150

If you tip it onto it's side, i think you then push in a couple of buttons, one on what would normally be the bottom and the other on the top, then the case will hinge open.

You'll need to have it laid on the correct side though.

How can I remove the cover on a Dell Optiplex GX150? I have the Tower version, not the mini one.

I think this tower is of the clamshell design where the whole chassis opens up down the middle. Try pressing the pressure points on the top and bottom of the tower and pulling the tower open. No covers will come off, it will open on a sort of hinge to expose the inner workings. Here are some pictures from Dell of how this works on the smaller model, it should be the same for yours: http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/opgx150/sm_en/smdsktp.htm#computer_cover

click on computer cover, or scroll down to that section

on the motherboard there is a battery. it looks like a watch battery. there should be a jumper next to it with 3 prongs. move the jumper over to the next prong and start the computer.( it will start but will not come on). turn off the computer and put the jumper back to the first position. start the computer again and the bios will be reset
