SOURCE: File Error report on a W80 camera....

If you bought your memory card on eBay, there is a good chance that is the problem, as i had that issue myself....after dealing with the seller and getting my money back, i went and bought a sony 4GB card from Circuit City, worked fine for a while, and then got the same error. I have a feeling it has something to do with the camera's software. I havent tried the battery trick yet but its next on the list

SOURCE: CAMERA READS -CARD ERROR-AFTER INSERTING A NEW MEMORY CARD

First, make sure that the new memory card does not have the protect tab in the lock position. The new card must be unlocked and formatted before your camera will be able to use it. Also, make sure that the size card that you have purchased has not over shot the ability of your camera. I think that a 2 GB card is as large as you can use. Just because the card fits into the slot does not mean that the camera will address it!

SOURCE: No CF card

The camera body has a tiny switch marked "CF" in one position and Sony's "memory stick" symbol in the other. Apparently I accidentally reset the switch from "memory stick" to "CF" while slipping the camera body into (or out of) its carrying-case. Once I had set this switch from "CF" back to the "memory stick" position, everything worked fine. Solution:  read the user's manual more carefully next time!!

I just bought a new sandisk 4GB card for my p880 kodak. Wnen inserted the new card camera screen says card is unusable, insert new card. I have followed instructions for formatting on my PC, but still get...

The P880 works with MMC and SD cards. Your new 4GB card is an SDHC card. While it fits into the slot, it is electronically incompatible and will not work. The camera is limited to working with cards 2GB and smaller.

When i insert the memory card "card error" appears

Please try this card with your PC and if there is any issues in detection after inserting into the card detection slot, then the card is faulty for sure.
If not make sure there are no foreign particles inside of the slot, make sure with a good air jet the slot is clear.
If there is no detection remove battery, keep it off for few hours/overnight and retry.
If the fault stays the fault is in the interface to the processor in the main board.

Error message - Memory card requires formating

Before suspecting the camera, I'd simply try another memory card in it. Memory cards can and do fail and often can behave inconsistently before they fail completely.

System Error 01881-00042

With a new memory card the camera is working properly again. NO MORE PROBLEM

It is very strange, however with 4Euro, the camera is working again.

So if you have the same problem try a new memory card and good luck.

Format Error in Sony Cybershot

it could be a faulty memory card, but a more likely cause is that this stick isn't formatted yet. you can format it usually by bringing up the camera menu, then going to tools and format. you can also format it by using windows and a cardreader or your camera.
