Just moved cross country, offloaded the washing machine and started it up. The basin filled to the level, but that's it. You can reset the volume and it will fill to the desired level, but that's it. I wonder if something got jarred in transport?
I have a Kenmore 70 series, Heavy Duty/Super Capacity washer. It fills up with water & then does nothing. The lid is shut & the electrical outlet is working properly. Ck lid switch raise lid and slowly close listen for slight click if none heard switch is not making depending on model some switches are on right side and has a small opening where lid strike hits it or could be underneath console area

Possible fault with the program controller unit. You need to check the program cycle outputs using a multimeter connected to measure the output voltage. On start the inlet should open and then close as the water level sensors works and then proceed to wash. So this much seems OK. Now in the next step the drain valve must open to drain off, then fill once again with the inlet working and water level being sensed. If there is no output in this section cycle then the prrogram controller has errors within the memory . You can remove the panel and reset all connectors and connections.
Remove the agitator and see if the agitator shaft moves during agitate. If it moves then the agitator spline is worn or the agitator dogs are worn and the top half of the agitator will not work. If no results then the gearcase would have to be replaced
most new washers have cold water only rinse and spray rinse ck cold water coming into machine during wash if no cold comes in suspect cold side of fill vale not opening ..could be wiring issue or a bad valve
