Zizzle "Hooked on Phonics" sound

Your above instructions don't appear to apply to the Zizzle Hooked on Phonics Electronic Learning device for children which I was trying to describe in my initial inquiry. Your solutions sound like those for a product or device controlled by or through a Microsoft software operating system??? Can you refer my inquiry to the proper expert if other than yourself? Thanks for helping me and have a blessed day! Charley Knight

Hi Charley,

Based on your concern, you already reset the device by pressing the reset button on the back but to no avail. Resetting a device will bring back the factory state like when you first got the unit. I suspected that this is a hardware failure. If the device is still in warranty, I recommend to contact the manufacturer and let them set a free repair or replacement. You can email Zizzle via [email protected] and let them know about your issue.

Hope it helps.

Thank you for using FixYa.

Hi cknight187,

You may try the troubleshooting below that can be done to get the sound to work again with the Zizzle "Hooke on Phonics".

1. Use the steps below to change the sound card to something other than the Game Compatible setting.

  • Click on Start, Settings, and Control Panel
  • Double click on Multimedia (or Sounds and Multimedia in Windows Me, or Sounds and Audio Devices in XP)
  • Click the Audio tab.
  • Under the Playback section, look for the Preferred Device.
  • Under Preferred Device, click on the arrow pointing down and select a device other than Game Compatible..
  • Click on the Apply button, then the Ok button.
  • Close the Control Panel.

2. If that does not correct the issue, you can bypass Microsoft DirectSound, and play audio directly through your sound card.

  • Click Start, and then Run.
  • Type DxDiag and click OK
  • Click the Sound tab
  • Under DirectX features, you will see the Hardware Sound Acceleration Level.
  • Move the slider bar to the left or right until it says Basic acceleration and click Exit.

3. If you are still experiencing problems, check the following:

- Check that your speakers are turned on and connected to your computer.
- You can verify that your sound system is working by playing any audio file.
- Make sure you've closed any other programs that use audio, such as RealAudio, WinAmp, or Napster.
- If the audio still doesn't work properly, update the drivers for your audio card from the manufacturer's Web site.

Hope it helps.

Thank you for using Fixya.

Laptop broken screen... plugged in Dell monitor, still doesnt work

You can switch to an external monitor or data projector by two methods. 1. Connect the external monitor to the laptop's video port, power up the external monitor first and the laptop. The video information will automatically switch to the external monitor. 2. If you power up the laptop first then you can switch the video output to the external monitor by pressing the Fn key and one of the Function keys, depending upon your make and model laptop. You can also toggle between the external monitor or both LCD screen plus the external monitor or back to LCD screen only by pressing the Fn key plus one of the function key. Here is a list of key combinations for some of the laptops :- IBM ThinkPad = Fn + F7 HP and Compaq = Fn + F4 Toshiba = Fn + F5 Dell = Fn + F8

Change input device to some other which you know works for sure. If problem persists, try changing the channel. If you notice same problem, this may need attention by a qualified service technician.

My screen in in dark negative and cant see whats on

Hello Mandy,
A dim screen or one that is black or suddenly blacks out, it might just be a power or battery issue. Do some troubleshooting. Check the power connection and see if its loose, then unplug it and take out the battery pack, then press the ON button for 20 seconds or so. Then put the battery back in. If that doesn`t work, you could have a burned out visual back light or a loose inverter. If the problem doesn`t go away, don`t open the LCD monitor and try to fix it yourself as that will void the warranty. Sorry for the late reply.

My RCA XL100 is hooked up to cable and works perfectly fine. We've had it for ages and the picture is clear, sound is beautiful, and it gets along fine with my universal remote. There's just one...

Some of their very old sets the video input was located on channels in the 90's; Try scrolling down from 99 to 90 to see if you locate the video input; this is just the way they did things in the older sets.

Before you rate this solution let me know what you find first.

I,ve not been able to see anything on "DCR-HC32 -HC-42" LCD screen, but its working properly if we press it blindly, otherwise its viewfinder is o.k

If the touch screen of the Camcorder is not working, please follow the troubleshooting steps.

Please make sure that you're using fully charged batteries.

Turn off the Camcorder and turn ON again and check the operation.

Try resetting the Camcorder by pressing the reset button above the hand strap.

Note: In the above picture, 10 represent the reset button.

If the issue persists again, please perform LCD screen Calibration and check if that helps.

Please follow the steps below to perform the LCD Calibration

Perform a power resetting of the Camcorder. To perform power resetting, please remove the battery pack, turn the Power switch to ON for more than 15 seconds, turn the Power switch to OFF position and then reinsert the battery pack.

If the issue persists even after performing all the above-mentioned steps, service is required.

I hope this information will help you to resolve the touch screen issue of the Camcorder.
